Unhappy Dipstick

Am I the only one annoyed by a dipsick made from metal the same color as oil? Maybe it's just my eyes, but it sure is hard to read the oil level. Now the good news: that's the most serious complaint I have about my '8!

Sorry I learnt graphics design at high school. Although it is 12 years ago,, I still use that in making my site!

Yeah, sometimes it's hard to read, especially when it's clean - just after an oil change.

I can tell the difference without any problems. My only complaint is how hard it is to get it back in the hole after checking the oil.

Just hold the stick up so that a source of light reflects off the dipstick tip back towards your eye. You'll have no trouble seeing where liquid ends and bare, dry metal remains. With this method, the color of the dipstick is irrelevant.

I've found roughing up the stick with sandpaper makes it much easier to see the oil/bare line. If you do this, clean off the debris before reinserting it.
