Dealer ripoff

Just got back from Mazda Alhambra and they wanted to charged me $600.00 to change my brake pads and machine my rotors. I have about 20% left, I asked what they're charging me for, his reply was 80.00 for the brakes, the rest is labor. I should just buy new rotors and brakes for that price.

That's a bit above the usual shop rate.....about $400 an hour more

Time to find a new dealer...or a good local shop that you can build a relationship with

I was quoted almost $1000 for 4 brakes and NEW rotors bc mine were warped.

So my friends dad works at a warehouse, I bought the brakes and rotors for under $100 (total, yes total) and spent $6 for some beer and invested an hour of time to install them.

I recommend the same, thats simple maintenance, you're *** is going to hurt later if you go through the dealer.

The last time someone quoted me $600 for front brakes was about 6 or 7 years ago on my Honda Accord. That price included new rotors and calipers.

$600 for pads and turning the rotors...he better take you to dinner and a movie first.

I did the Honda myself for about $100 worth of parts from Advanced Auto. Parts for an 8 will be more than for a Honda, but still less than what that dealer wants for nothing.

$600 you probably better off getting new pads and rotors and change them yourself.

This is a big problem with Mazda and some other dealers. They loose biz cause they are unfair. They break potential customer relations.

Don't kid yourself...this isn't a Mazda problem

It is a dealership problem

They don't make much money selling cars anymore...the service department is what keeps those glittery showrooms in toilet paper and free coffee
