Oi.. how come I knew the subject of Rice vs. Performance would enter this kinda thread.. lol

Pat's (Shinka duh!) car is to me awsome simply because she's doing both. She has the looks part done pat (no pun i swear) and the performance to back it up. I think we all friggin' know or should know by now that any "Mod" we do we are hardly going to see a dime of it back in resale. Why do you think more than half of us part our cars out before we sell them back. Also those who are saying they dont like pats doors or whatnot guess what that isnt the topic of this thread. The guy asked for idea on modding his car and pat decided to tempt the guy if you will with pictures of her baby. I dunno I get pissed when people go off topic and attack someone for no real reason other than to see their own text plastered on the board.

Oh and for suggestions on Mods, look into suspension parts anything other than that your looking at small gains or spending a few grand for a FI option.

Well, if you need someone to convince you of modding your car. Then I don't think that your psychologically prepared to do it.

people mod their car to have some fun improving its performance. New windows on a house? Thats a mod. New refridgerator, tv, stereo, haircut, shirt, etc. Those are all mods.

As with any hobby, your not going to see resale value. Lets say you bought a really awesome shirt and all the ladies love you in it. Its going to look damn cool but your not going to be able to sell that thing at all. Thats what clear corners or tint do. Just think of them as buying a new shirt or shoes.

Now, performance mods actually make the car a whole hell of a lot more fun to drive. And thats why you bought this car, right? Fun to drive with great looks. And thats the reason why you should mod, because though modding you are better able to enjoy the great looks and exceptional performance this car has to offer.

We all mod for different reasons, It's who we are. Personally all my mod have been exterior, because like I said, it make us different. When I see another 8 on the streets, I look to see if anything has been added to give it a... special look to it. It tells me if that person actually knows anything a bout the car. This is one reason I like this car , you make what you want out of it. By the way I love that shinka car, and step by step I plan on making mine as different as she has made hers. My cents.

unless of course you take it to the track to enjoy the driving experience - in which case you want as few visual mods as possible because they generally slow you down and the first off you have is going to destroy them anyway.

As for knowing about the car - I suspect people whos mods are mainly unseen may know a bit more than those who mod for looks .....

I love the enthusiasm the owners show when they mod the car!
Ask how many mods I did to my last car. None
The car drives the enthusiasm and the enthusiasm drives the mods.

The thing is, the first you notice is the looks. Thats what I mean. You see whats on the outside , not the inside.

You mod for youself, not for anyone else. I don't mod for resale value, and my insurance company (Progressive), allows me to add the value of my modifications on my premium, and they don't charge that much extra, either.

I mod for performance and uniquness. That's how you have to look at it. Plus, it makes my car more fun to drive everyday and gives me a sense of pride and a fun (albiet expensive) hobby.

The only thing I consider when I buy a new part is how it may adversely effect my reliablily.

My opinion. Depending on what you are looking for for $800 you can get:

- Racing beat springs, sways, and koni shocks.
- or Nitrous

Either of these are probably the only performance upgrades out there that will make the most noticable differences for the money.

Looks like you didn't resize it well though - it's really pixelated - I agree, hurts my eyes. PM me with the photo as an attachment and I'll resize it with Photoshop for you.

BTW, that car really is pretty - not a fan of the "lambo doors" (only cars that are actually Lambos should have lambo doors IMHO), but love the nose kit/splitter, those wheels are beautiful, and it just looks classy and exceptionally high performance. What color is the leather - looks like you changed it to a taupe or med. grey color. IF I were to mod something, I'd love to change the leather color - my Yellow car cries for something other than a monochromic black interior. Although screaming yellow leather inserts would not look good either.

It's not fine ... look at the side skirts for a "dotted" white lines as an example on what's wrong with it.

The photo in your sig however, is perfectly fine.

Why does it seem that the best mods for the 8 are in the strength area of the car. It's a great handling car, but suspension is a huge mod. It already has a relatively short shifter. The mods like flywheel and pullies help wind up quicker, it already winds up quick.

because after you mod you can start multiple threads showing off the exact same mod over and over, and spam pictures EVERYWHERE

just saying
