which color is best?

Don't agree. White would be the first to show dirt.
Since road dirt and grime tends to be very light in color, darker colors like Black show dirt WAY before White does.

I've owned both black & white cars in the past.
Without a doubt, black is the WORST. It will show dirt the day after you wash it and just rub something on it the wrong way and you'll see a scratch. I love black cars, but they are a total pain to up keep and detail.
While white looks terrible when dirty, it's still much better compared to black. It's relatively low maintenance in comparison.

Well, white pearl mica paint is whay my Millennia S was and it showed the dirt on the side but dust etc. did not show badly.
I would agree that titanium would probably show dirt the least. My blue is so optically bright in the sun and wet looking that anything on the surface or fingerprint shows up .
I say to pick the color you like and that compliments the car's lines the best. I think that the RX8's lines are best seen in the Red, Blue and Titanium - sort of the medium dark colors. Note the fender lines, etc.
Color preference is truly personal.

Probably silver is best for hiding dirt (and that's what I got). Ti Gray may be good as long as you aren't hoping to hide road salt- it shows up pretty well on the Ti Gray. Road salt just makes a silver car look sort of dull. I just saw a somewhat dirty white RX-8 at a dealer today and I thought the dirt on it was pretty noticeable, it's a pretty bright white. Otherwise, I thought it was a very good color for the car. As for what hides keying the best, I suppose it's still silver since the metal is "metal" colored underneath and you don't get the white effect from the clearcoat being damaged so much, but it's like saying I'd rather get shot with a .22 than a Colt .45.

Personally I also think black looks best when its clean. But I also think it still looks pretty good when not perfectly clean. Then it looks about as good as any other color that's not perfectly clean.

A nice step up!!!
My last car was white and my 8 is black. The black gets dirty fastest by far. Washed it friday. We had a rainy weekend with lots and lots of clean rain but it is still all covered with spots.

Stuck in a love triangle
For some reason my new yellow attracts bugs like a goddamn magnet. I have never owned a car that had such a fatal attraction for bottom feeders. The car is sparkling clean the night before, and then I wake up and it's got patches of black all over. And 95% of the time none of the other cars here have bugs on them. Just mine. That's why I have to do burn outs when I leave the driveway in the morning. Only way to get the damn critters completely off.
The dealership must have used some bug alluring wax or something. I wonder if they're eating the paint or just mating on it?
Good thing it's been raining lately..

Bugs do love yellow, but that's just a bad choice of roads!
All my yellow cars have drawn bugs, so I end up cleaning off flecks of fly crap routinely. They stick like glue. The discovery of the clay bar makes it easier for us LY owners. That's the only downside to Lightning Yellow! :p
