my friend actually had that problem, too on his 8 I think it's the fact that it's cold and the gears are just too cold... I have an 05 MT 8 and I haven't had that problem... so I think it just varies on each car..

This is the first time I've had one of my own threads referenced Sweet! I'm taking my car into the dealership on Wednesday night, leave it there, then go Thursday morning to show them the rattle. I'll let you guys know what the exact cause is.

If it goes away with the clutch depressed, it will be Gear chatter, which is normal on all M/T cars.

Because the crankshaft does not rotate smoothly, but in pulses as the engine fires, the gears (at lower revs anyway) make a noise as they 'Chatter together' like a jigajigajigajigajiga type noise.

Raise the revs, and they start to really spin, then quieten down.

Thats my educated guess anyway...

Your sarcasm just shows how a smaller person you are, the new guy has to learn how to use the search button.

Got my car back from service at the dealership. They had it for two days straight and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it....tech said that the engine just needs to be broken in (5,000 miles according to him...wth?). I'm thinking I may take my car to another dealership for a second opinion, somehow I have a hard time believing that this noise would go away after 5,000 miles.
