Clutch Play?
Hi all. I was wondering if this was the case with any other 8's. My clutch pedal has about 2 1/2" (my estimate) of play at the top of the clutch. By this i mean i can press down the pedal about 2 1/2" without it having any effect. It does come back up to the top when i depress the clutch, but i still feel like that top portion isnt doing anything.
Sorry for the bad explanation, but anyone have any thought on this? :o

Well technically what you describe is not necessarily free play. Free play would be where the pedal moves and excessive distance before moving the piston in the master cylinder. What you describe sounds more like a long throw, which yes my RX-8 also has. The way to tell is to get your head down there with a flashlight and measure. I can give you the exact procedure from the shop manual, if you like, but it sounds like nothing different than what the rest of us are experiencing. Also, you can have a buddy look under the hood while you press the pedal and observe what the slave cylinder is doing.
