Exclamation Clutch Pedal Assembly Warranty!!!!!

It was announced OFFICIALLY by Mazda that the Clutch Pedal Assembly is now under an extended 8 year warranty plan! So if you have a squeaky pedal then go get your free stuff! IF you have already purchased the new pedal and labor, then maybe Mazda will be able to reimburse you for the costs! I just got a call from Mazda because I was arguing this with them for 2 weeks and they did in fact push it into an extended warranty! Call your dealership and verify! University Mazda of Seattle called and told me! So I'm going in to get my money back!

They will fix a broken pedal assy for free. If it is squeeking and not broken, then it wouldn't be a warranty issue.

Mine broke a few months ago, I bought a new one immediately after that happened for my 2004 RX-8. You should post a link regarding this bulletin. Because I have 143k miles on my car, I only hope that the mileage isn't a factor for reimbursement.

Granted that not all squeaking indicates imminent failure

But didn't Mazda tell the Gov investigators that owners could tell it was starting to fail by sound and feel or something and could address the issue prior to breakage?

If the owner has to wait till it breaks then this does nothing to improve safety!

Mazda should clarify in the warranty letters how the average owner can identify the issue

I just can't believe there are SO MANY people still don't know about this.

there is a long thread about this with over 100K views, is this new thread even necessary ?

I haven't been forwarded the TSB, but they told me that it's covered and that I should come in and get my money back. The squeaking is also a sign that it is breaking. That's the first stage to it coming apart usually.

I feel your pain. You created a classic thread. Many pages, many many views. Lots of info. Leader of the insurrection that led to our government taking action to help us. But it's now likely that the first scan of the program letter and/or TSB will appear in someone else's thread.

Life can be so unfair.

First time I've seen this.

Thanks OP. There's always a good amount of people who have stopped checking those ever so popular threads, and then this drops in their lap to remind them. I, for one, don't find too much of a hassle. Better than making a thread about Oil, amirite?

Oil, Cat backs, cheap mods for horsepower, why can't I drag race a civic?, why can't I start my car?, why is my oil light on?, Why is there goo all over my dip stick?, where is my MM tune? any thread starting with "What's the best.....", let's not forget mileage, and on it goes

It's about damn time that Mazda recognized this as an issue. This should be a sticky, this is the #1 safety issue with the 8, everybody should know to take their car in if the pedal starts to squeak.

according to Mazda, squeak/noisy pedal don't mean squat. it has to be "broken" to get a replacement.

im just really curious about what kind of "torque" spec bullshit they gonna pull on this.

That's normal. If it stays stiff for more than four hours, call your doctor.

Well, that's about useless isn't it, as far as safety goes. I'd take in a squeaky pedal anyway, at least they are acknowledging the issue, maybe a tech would listen. Should have been a recall years ago, in any case.

too bad this isn't a recall or anything. cuz they never intend to update the part with another 0.1 inch thicker metal + better & more weld spot.

if this is a Civic then sure they will update it. but consider Rx-8's sale were never high (like 40K in the country, including the ones already been totaled), they would just wait until the warranty goes out.

good info here. will have to verify with my local dealer as to exactly what is covered and under what circumstances. my pedal is fine at this juncture but who knows how it will be in another 30K miles..

Well, I am on here every day and have not seen anything about the clutch pedal warranty. I have seen that it was not a recall issue.
I have also just been to my dealer about two weeks ago about the squeak. Was not told about any warranty on it breaking. I also didn't ask, so I guess they saw no need to volunteer info.
