Clean up the black tailpipe part
I dont know the technical name, but the black plastic part that goes around my tailpipes is kind of faded, looks lighter and not as dark black. Is there anything you can buy that you can use to restore the luster of it?

No it isnt damaged and it is mainly ligher on the outside, like maybe the sun has faded it. I was thinking armorall, but didnt know if there was other stuff that other owners have used that worked great. What is this mothers back to black stuff will it work on that part?

try the ice turtle wax (sealant type actually). i use it on my car as it is a DD and it's easier for daily protection. also brings the luster back for the black plastic parts. i don't have to worry about getting wax on the plastic and no black residue that the others leave behind.

You need to buy Mequiars Exterior Trim Care. Its a spray which makes it easy to use and can reach all the tuff spots with no problem. The plastic looks brand new again. I have tried Mothers back to black and it worked alright.

Mothers back to black is alright if you like to swipe it on and let it dry then wipe it again. And its a pain in the *** to get in every spot. Trust me try Mequiars Exterior Trim Care. All you do is spray it on and wipe off the over spray that got on the paint and your done. The plastic looks brand new again. And it lasts longer too.

Replace the pieces (3 total make up the rear). They are relatively cheap. I got rear-ended (minor damage) few months ago and had it all replaced and i believe the shrouds around the tips are like $40 each and the middle part cant be much more (cant remember as insurance covered it). I have an 04 and mine were also fading prior to the accident.

And......if you really have the time and don't want to actually get new ones, you could take them off(becareful with all the clips...there are a lot of them.), then totally wipe them down with "back to black", let them dry real good, then re-install. Removingf them would only have to be done for the first time deep cleaning.

I was thinking of just painting it flat black. I think it would look better and not much upkeep other than washing and maybe the occasional waxing if you apply a non gloss clear coat.
