Chicago Auto Show
I just returned from the auto show in Chicago and was very dissapointed. The 350Z and even the EVO VII were there, multiple S2000's were available to sit in, but low and behold, no RX-8. The Mazda 6 was even there, but the only showing of the RX-8 was some lame 1- minute long video of it looping around a race track. I asked some mazda reps where the 8 was and all I got was a "if I had a dollar for every time I heard that today" and "well, its still not coming out for awhile so they decided not to bring it to the car show". Very very dissapoining, probably the only car i have not yet seen in person that I really wanted to. I hope your listening mazda, very lame move, I think I'll go put my down payment on the 350Z (ugh) or pick up an S2000 in just for spite, I'm tired of waiting.

I agree why didn't Mazda bring the RX8 to the show. Would it have cost a lot of money to bring it to the show and show it off? Sounds like typical Mazda marketing.

Well, As I do understand your fustration, the Chicago show and the Philly Show (Where I saw that RX8 Demo on the plasma TV) didnt have the car. WHY? Its not just Mazda Marketing, it was just normal marketing. I havent seen multitudes of RX8's in photos in fact it seems to be only one with the production trim (the yellow one) now as I take it Chicago and Philadelphia went on at the same time as Detroit, and it makes for smart marketing for Mazda to show their new pirde and joy to the Industry Big Wigs, and that means Detroit, and if your in the NY area, youll more than likely see it there, since NY is the "other" big show, although the Jacob Javits Center is rather small. This is the same reason that the v10 viper powered Dodge Ram was unavailable for viewing at the Philly Show and so on and so forth...I have a list of cars I wanted to see, but NY is just around the corner.

Actually, I attended the Philly auto show a few weeks ago (My hometown is in NJ, I was there over Xmas) and was dissapointed that the RX-8 wasn't there, but understood that it was in Detroit. The Chicago auto show, however, is going on right now, so as far as I know there was no overlap with the Detroit show (or any show that might be bigger than it). So the question is, again, where is it????

They may not be showing it cause it over 1 year away before they release it. They will probably show it at New York. And next year they'll show it at all the auto shows.

eh, come on guys don't bust on mazda for not bringing the car over or whatever.. the way i see it is, if you can't take a test drive in it then it's just a big tease seeing it inches from you behind a velvet rope..
also the atlanta "show" doesn't get crap either, that's why I already got my ticket to head up to nyc for real the show.. gonna need more batteries for the digicam before then though.. :D

They should show cars that they definitely plan to sell. I saw the Z and it was pretty cool, but I really wanted to see the 8. I think they didn't show it because they wanted to feature the 6.
