Check Engine light
Got another freaking issue with this car. bought it brand new about a month ago. Has 1K miles on it. Dealer changed the oil and spark plugs this past Monday.
Well, today when I'm leaving work, the check engine light stayed on. Any idea what might cause it to stay on?
Really started to regret this freaking car. A brand new car shouldn't have this issues.

Lights are jacked up. Dealer tried to adjust to no avail. So, ordering new ones and the leveler or whatever it's called.
and yes, I'm sure it's not the TPMS light. This light just came on today. TPMS has shown up the first day I put the winter tires on the car.
Spoiler issue is part of the car. The installer may have jacked it up, but it's another thing to deal with on a brand new car.

^+1 again!
And this gas cap isn't a for sure thing and I know you pissed off, but if the CEL stays on, and you're near an Autozone, go have them read it and see what the CEL code is..............this way when/if you need to head back to the dealer, you will know what it is before you get there and this will test how good your dealer is. (Don't tell him)

Also.....since the dealer changed the plugs, go make sure all the plug wires are seated correctly. There have been some cars that people have reported that the plug wires have popped off, but you should notice that............as it should run like crap.

Because I'm beyond frustrated with dealing with issues on this car at this point.

Quit bitching and sell it already.

It might actually take a couple of drive cycles right? I'll have to go and SEARCH and see if others reported it took cycles after reseating cap. Also, there is a TSB on the cap as well, but you're a new car right? What year is you car?

You can disconnect the battery to clear it if you don't want to wait for the drive cycles. Hold the brake pedal down for a minute after you clear it to use every bit of juice left in the car.

BTW, my CEL light went on the other day. Checked the gas cap, and sure enough, it was loose. I tightened it up, and refilled the tank, but the light is still on.
Can anyone save me a trip to the dealer??

The dealer is not sure if it's the headlight assemblies themselves that are messed up, or the auto leveler module (or however that works). He is ordering both.
That's what I was referring to. The problem isn't a simple adjustment (unless the guy just did it flat wrong).

You can try to disconnect the negative side of the battery for ten minutes. While it's off, go step on the brake pedal for awhile to bleed anything left in the system and then hook it back up and go for a drive. It might do the trick or it may take two or three drive cycles.

To reset the cel you can take out the bottom 15 amp fuse for a minute (fuse box is under the steering wheel to the left in line with the pedals). I beleive it is the room fuse. This will reset your cel, but your car will drive different (the pcm has to relearn your driving habits) for the first 50-100 miles. If you check engine light comes back on, then the cel is from a bigger problem then your gas cap. Hope that helps a little. It will take a while for your cel to come back on (about 100 miles or so).
