Car rental question
I dropped my rx8 off to have a motor mount replaced. The dealer says if the part is in stock then they pay for my rental. However, if the part needs to be ordered they dont pay for the rental. Seems very odd to me. Shouldnt they pay either way? Its not my fault.

I am a meat popcicle
My experience with Mazda is that if it's a warranty repair, and they need your car for more than a day, they pay for it (regardless of whether of a part is in stock or not). Good luck dude.

It's not the dealer who pays for the rental - they will forward the charge to Mazda if it's warranty work.
I think this whole rental car thing is dependent on the dealer. Some are picky about it, others are not.
So far, i had no problem with my dealer - I always got a rental when they worked on my car.

It was up to the dealership to get reimbursed by the automaker. I can only speak for the franchise I worked for but I was not given the impression it was a special deal we had.
I had my choice of 5 dealerships - 1 is 1 hour away, 2 are 1.5 hours away and 2 are 2 hours away. I chose Vincent Mazda in East Rochester, NY who is 2 hours away because they give me the best service (best worl, least back-talk, least quibbling about the rental-loaner).
One more side-thought about rental loaners - call your auto insurance company first and see if your standard policy covers rentals so you don't feel obligated to pay the rental agency's $20/day insurance which the dealership will not cover. For my policy any rental (or any car at all) which I drive is covered just like the car I own - same $$ coverage and deductibles apply.

the dealer wont help
they are saying its the intake and they want me to pay them 188.00 to swap a stock intake into the car and see if that fixes it since I dont have my stock intake
