I feel your pain. Damn near the same thing that happened to my 8. same side even. The total damage ended up being about $1200. they had to replace the air dam, as well as the bumper cover. the plastic on the inner fender broke off and was rubbing my tire. I was also with you in the ugly rental car department. i had a maroonish looking four door taurus. UGLY!

When they replaced the bumper cover, did they have to do any repainting? I assume they paint the cover at the shop, but did they have to blend it with the body?

Ouch. Friend of mine hit a raccoon in his 350Z and it did about the same amount of damage. It broke part of the bracket on the costly xenon headlight so the whole thing had to be replaced. He actually benefited from the hit because he got to put the newer looking 2006 bumper on his '05 car.

no no -- thats mud from our front driveway -- i actually didnt see much blood (maybe thats because my 8 is black and it was pitch black at night in the middle of the road... the only blood or chunks i saw, was one bit of chunk and some fur on my front grille....

Sorry for you, but be glad you were in a good car like a RX8. My brother was killed trying to avoid a animal in the road when in a older VW Bug. The car flipped and he was thrown out. The older VWs had a funny semi solid rear end and one side could launch the car. He only had it for two days and didn't know about the funny handling. (This was in the 50's).

I just meant at the time of the incident i wasn't driving like some of the crazy bastards I see on the road all the time... i.e. i was ACTUALLY concentrating on driving 100%. I've passed people before that are shaving, reading books, putting on makeup, getting dressed, and all kinds of crap while they were driving. SCARY
