either now or do you think down the road tuners will come out with products that address this problem?

Looking at a dyno sheet, sure, it looks like with the low-end torque you don't have barrels full of power in low rpm.

But, I'd have to guess, you haven't test driven an 8 yet. This is one smooth operating rotary. It doesn't take long to climb through the rpm's, trust me

This is coming from someone that hasn't reach his 600 mile "break-in" yet, so hasn't even come close to WOT. Yeah, sure, I'm checking out all the mods to see what can be improved, but more out of an interest in learning mechanics and tuning on this car rather than increasing get up and go. I'm actually a little apprehensive about going full WOT in this car, I don't have any long enough roads in my neighborhood with high enough speed limits (and as I keep telling my Z28 driving friend, I'll be happy to compare top ends at a track, but not on the street).

I have driven the RX-8 extensivly and have found no low to mid-range power. It has "passable" highway lane change speeds. Don't get me wrong I love the ergonomics, short throw 6 speed, driving position and most of all handling. I just can't get over the lack of power and poor mileage it gets.

I must admit I don't know how to drive a high RPM car. That might make it quicker to me but I just don't know. I'm not a novice when it comes to driving but the car looks fast but to me as adaquete power.

It's really quite simple- keep the revs up in the power band if you want power. Keep it the proper gear to be at or near 5000rpm when you want to get on it, and you'll be in the sweet spot when you stomp on it and take it up to 8500.

If that doesn't work for you, then the RX-8 might not be for you. If you haven't bought it yet, then look at a 350Z or other torque monster. If you already own, then learn to drive it. I used to have a 133HP Miata, and I still managed to put an anxious grin on passengers faces as I revved that little thing out .. the RX-8 just flat out put's them in a permagrin coma. I tell them 'wait till I put the summer tires on' with an evil laugh...
