It actually happened parked on the road outside a friends house, which is an apartment and assumingly why I didn't hear the alarm sound. Unless indeed screwdrivers magically disarm them.

My friends car just got broken into yesterday and they beat the crap out of the car destroyed the dash trying to get the stereo, destroyed his ignition trying to steal the car, and probably because they could get it started they decided to throw a rock through the front windshield.
Total damage $2200.00
Now the big problem, his insurance doesn't cover breakins. Ouch. That's what happens when you cheap out I guess. I'm suprised the thieves didn't try and steal my 8. I wish that had, I'd love to get the '05 then I could have the key without paying $200 =)
