Bodyshop forgot my flakes!!!!!

Holy crap Batman!

I took my 8 to the bodyshop to fix a dent on the passenger side doors (yep, got em both). I specifically brought it to a dealership (that also owns a Madza franchise) that would have very easy access to Madza information/parts.

After a week in the shop, the car is done. When I go to pick it up... I notice the door edge guard is not on the door, but in the front seat. The guard was pointed out to them, at the time of the quote. I didn't inspect the paint too much, just to see that it looked like a good finish and felt glass smooth. I get her home and now sitting in full sunlight, I notice there are no MICA FLAKES in either one of my passenger doors! I thought it looked a tad dull. They did wash and wax my 8 before delivery, and that's how I noticed she just looked wrong. Walk on over to the other side.... yep, big difference in the sun. They fubar'd. Hopefully they won't F up the next time... and since it's just a paint job now, a whole lot less than a week (and I expect a loaner for their mistake).

I'd report them to Mazda Corporate.

I'm Lost In Middle America (LIMA), Ohio. I found out this am that the body shop is no longer under the same ownership as the Mazda dealership... hence the possible problems. The body shop is still MIKE PRUITT and a FORD dealership, but the Mazda (Lincoln/Mercury) dealership is under new ownership.

I took it out to the body shop so the manager could take a look at it. He did point out some MICA flecks (or as he calls it, pearlessence), but the concentration of the flakes are far less on the repainted doors than the rest of the car.

Sorry, no pics... they took it in for repaint and I should have her back in 36 hours.

Got a CROWN VIC as a loaner, no Miata (last loaner - when they still owned the Mazda franchise), no Mustang, and sigh.... definitely not a GT nor a T-bird, at least it's not a Focus.

Since they agreed about the F'up, and are taking care of it immediately, I'll let it slide, besides, since they don't own the Mazda franchise anymore, not sure what it'll do to gripe.

Wow, "pearlessence?" That's completely different from green, blue, and purple flakes in the paint. What a bunch of idiots...and how did they not NOTICE something was wrong?

My wife got her right rear Quarter fixed just above and aft of the the wheel. We took it to Hillard Collison Center here in Fort Worth. They did an awesome job with the repairs . The paint job was better than factory. BUT..... they messed up a couple of things in the interior. Someone spilled pop all over the console and it got into the seat heater switches. They attempted to clean it up and even left the 5-10 paper towles laying in the back for us. So nice of them. The scratched up the silver painted trim that runs the length of the console on the drivers side. And somehow they put a tiny slice/cut the leather on the steering wheel.

they probably did notice but didn't care or tried to get away with it.

I would think if the proper color code was ordered it already has the Mica flakes. I don't think they get the color and then add it themselves. These guys must of got some generic paint, not form Mazda.
