Blown motor need help!

Yesterday when getting on the freeway my car started to buck and as soon as it did I looked at the AFR and it was in the 17's. When as I saw this i immediately let out and the car seemed to come back to life but as soon as i hit the gas it the AFR jumped to 14's then went full lean and was bucking something horrible. I immediately got off the road and when coming to a halt the car died and will not restart. I never heard any popping or MIAC only bucking IDEAS?

Today I called my local dealership and the head rotary mechanic seemed very nice and more than willing to help with possibly getting a new motor installed. ALL I need to do is produce the oil change results which he stated I could get from Autozone and Advanced by simply giving them my phone number which they have always asked for. After calling both stores they told me they don't keep that stuff on file so I asked then why even ask for it WTF. Does anyone know if it's possible to get a list of what has been purchased from the stores thru their cooperate office?

Doesn't sound like a blown motor to me.
That's a failed fuel pump, usually.

Sure hope not it's a Walbro from BHR with the DIY upgrade. I have already pulled the pump and checked all the fittings and electrical connections they all seem to be in working order.

Don't think so the mechanic said they were specifically looking for type of oil as well as filter. He also said they only require change intervals of 7,500

But did you check the actual fuel pressure?

BTW - I didn't realize there was such a thing as the "BHR DIY upgrade".
There is the DIY upgrade and there is the Walbro pump that you can get from BHR. But the result is not a BHR product because there is plenty you can do to screw it up.

Furthermore, after all the modding you've done on your car, you are gonna try to scam a new motor?

I fail to see the scam. I have talked with the mechanic and he doesn't seem to think to bad of anything. Flywheel is fine, ignition is fine, and cat back is fine so long as the mid pipe comes off what else is there?

What are they plugged into? Just clip them, solder them back together, and use heat shrink and they will be good as new.

don't know what they're pluged into as they go into the fuel tank and plug into the pump housing? Sorry I should have been more specific as to what they were. No blown fuses? I figured a fuse would have blown before it allowed the car to run like it did.

It's the same symptom of a hose that has lost its coupling. And since it occurred when u added load is the direction I would have looked. Glad you found the culprit

That is the fuel level sensor connector...won't cause a fuel pressure problem

If it was shorting out it would cause a fuel problem.

Get some heat shrink from Radio Shack or Mar Vac Electronics.

The wires are not frayed or cut.

After assembly if you still have an issue then the pump is bad.

It looks like the conductors are ok, just the insulation worn through which explains the intermittent shorting. So, just electrical tape or better heat shrink and you should be good to go.

Would be good to also investigate how they got so worn so you can eliminate it happening again. Or at least tie-wrap them safely out of the way.

How do you figure that the fuel sensor wiring is going to cause a fuel pressure problem??

If it was shorting you will get fuel gauge level error..but it has nothing to do with fuel delivery..unless you were running out of gas............and It wouldn't be lean for long....

When you put in your pump you pinched the wires..

^^ yea ..?

so you put together some fuel pump "solution", got the wires caught up in the cover when reassembling, tried to blame the motor, then got mad when you found out the problem? lol

and btw, my car ran for 6 months on a blown MAIN fuse.. tell me how that works

By Mazda standards it was gone 2 yrs ago. Pulled the Vin and these were the numbers from a previous compression test

Rotor 1 6.8, 6.6, 6.6
Rotor 2 7.2, 7.1, 6.8
