BG Fuel/Air Induction System Cleaner
I have been reading about this over the last few days, and having had my Rx8 diagnosed with lightly clogged APV was thinking on giving this a try amd avoid a big intervention at this point, has anyone done this to any Rx8, what are your opinions?
Have a good day,
Thanks

I was also thinking of a dirty SSV when, rarely, could feel some hesitation above roughly 5000rpm, a kind of jerking, but my mazda dealer said 2 APV's were slightly clogged but they would need to take the admission apart to have a proper look at it and eventually clean it.

That is what they said.... the car has just 33000 on the clock!
I have been investigating a bit about Seafoam but it looks just slightly aggressive for the engine?
Sorry folks but my expertise in this subject isn't very vast!
Thanks

Okay, by admission, I assume you mean engine? Yes, if the APV's are stuck (very doubtful) then the engine would most likely (people say they have done it without removing it but I don't see it happening) have to be removed to get them out. If it's the SSV (very common) then it's not a big deal.

Many thanks for your reply again, with admission i mean the admission manifold (sorry)
let's say the APV's are clogged, what do you think the symptoms would be?
Again it is very rarely that i feel the car jerking, when it happens the car had been stopped for a few days, and it is just when going above 5000rpm under mild accelaration?
Much appreciated!!!

Ah, Intake manifold.
What you need to do is properly diagnose each component. Is your mechanic familiar with the RX-8?

I went to a mazda dealer here in UK, they wanted to charge me 500£ to investigate further (clean APVs),that is why i thought i would give BG a try and see if this rare problem settles....

I dunno man, you might want to post up what exactly they said on the service order. I have never heard of APV's getting stuck. And with only 33,000 km's..............
It sounds like they are guessing.

Check the VDI or SSV. The APV are operated by a stepper motor, i doubt they might be "clogged".
What dealer did you go to? there are some decent rotary mechanics in the uk, some are sub-par though.

I doubt the VDI would eb stuck, it would likely be the SSV. Seafoam and the like may break it free but it really needs to be pulled to be cleaned properly.
What exactly is the car doing? And has the regular maintenance been done recently like ignition coils, spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, oil changes, etc. etc?

Thanks again man,
What happens is a light jerking when i am accelerating above 5000rpm, but just very rarely happens and usually its when the car had been stopped for a few days. Sometimes the jerking is a bit more aggressive.
