No need for child seats anymore, yet our 10 and 12 year-old girls love it back there, and the underseat A/C vents and filp-open rear windows keep them quite comfortable. Otherwise, I use the child seat attachment hooks on the rear deck to hang my suit jackets on.

Not yet, but you never know. We have 4 doors anyway, so I'm sure it's all good while they are small kids.

Just questions the wife asked and of course I started to look at the 8 lastnight and wonder the same.... thanks
They're up high enough it shouldn't be an issue for any kids in a car seat

Congrats, and good luck And for the record, Maclaren strollers fit pretty well in the back, as do most small umbrella types. But anything bigger, ie. the Graco Quattro, is just a tad too big. I wish they made them with easily removable wheels, which would have solved the problem.

This thread should be renamed..."RX-8 for Dads"

Good to here that I'm not the only dad not driving a mini-van.

Talking I tell my friends it adds 50 horsepower...

My gf has a 3.5 yr. old so he has a child seat in my RX-8. We ride in it when he behaves well enough for his mum, and he loves it. Calls all other vehicles "cars" but mine is a "zoom zoom" (called it that from how my old RX-7 sounded when I would goto work).
My friends try to give me guff about it so I play along and tell them it adds 50 hp.

I still remember my wife's first remark when I brought home the 8 ... "You tricked me!" I told her it was a "4 door".

I had two car seats in the back for the three years I had my 8 -- the car was incredibly practical and fun to drive.

But then the kids grew .... and their feet kept kicking me in the back of my seat ... and they complained about the space ... so the 8 had to go for something with more room.

I would take my co-workers to lunch in my 8 (car seats went in to the trunk), and most folks remarked that there was more room back there than they had originally thought -- not for a multi-hour drive, for certainly for short trips.
