Any idea what dealer is mazda dealer 51441?

I just got the warranty history and theres an entry on there for:

Engine, Short M/T

I'm thinking this eludes to an engine replacement...which to me is a good thing. I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble I'm just trying to get confirmation of some of the items on the list and what was done.

Thanks in advance for your input,
Jerm

If you go to www.mazdausa.com, you can find your local Mazda dealer.
This is your closest dealer:
JENSEN MAZDA
1901E. 6TH STREET
SIOUX CITY, IA
51101
Phone: 712-255-3000

I dug alittle more online and searched what appeared to be the part number which came up as a new motor priced at around 5K.

So it looks I have a fairly new motor in this car...a good thing

I am a little concerned with the number of PCM's apparantly replaced under warranty...but we'll see over time. I'd still like to talk with the dealer that did the service...just to be sure.

Yeah I did that but the 51441 doesn't appear to be a zip code. I could be way off though. I'd imagine theres more than one dealer in that zip code. I'll dig a little further this afternoon. Thanks for getting back to me.

Each dealership has its own *dealership code*, is like the ID number on your driver's license.

I dont think the public has access to it.

you dont even know who replaced your engine or something ?

Well it was replaced prior to me purchasing the car. At least I believe it was replaced. Thats what I want to get clarified. Was it replaced or if it was repaired what was done.

Sorry about the previous reply. I misread your post. I figured out a way to get the dealer from that number.

BROWN'S FAIRFAX MAZDA
10570 LEE HIGHWAY
FAIRFAX , VA 22030
Phone: 703-385-8170

Engines are replaced. They are not opened up by the dealer. Mazda has contracted with companies to rebuild engines that have been sent in for warranty. This is what is most likely in your car. I have had 2 engines replaced under warrenty. First one was a new one that came from Mazda Japan. The present one is one of the remanufactured engines.

AWESOME!! Thanks! I'll give them a call this afternoon to get a little clarification. If they can give it.

So based on your knowledge and what you said if it was listed on a warranty list it was replaced? Very good to know.

i don't know that "engine, short M/T" is a replacement/rebuild but please keep us posted. as for the PCM flashes, i think we have all had a few of those done but didn't remember seeing that on the warranty printout. i have mine at home that was from this weekend but just haven't had a chance to review it yet since i've been swamped with work.

if his car was one of the engine replacement *early bird* he probably got a new engine just like what you had.

The reason I mentioned the PCM (Module, Powertrain CO) was b/c of the part numbers listed for them.

They are N3H61881A and are listed twice.

A little bit further down there is a (4206F PCM Reprogramm)
with part number 77718019
which to me is the reflash. They could have changed the warranty designators for the reflashes though so I'm not convinced my car is on its third PCM just yet. Thats really the only thing that concerns me. If its prone to PCM failure that could get expensive really fast at 1000 a pop.

The motor would be a bonus for me. since the car has 72K on the chassis (I've put the last 10K) and probably half that on the motor. Really big smiley face there

I'll know some enough....I hope. Mazda dealer in fairfax may tell me to go to he77

that means they reflash your ECU, not replacing it, especially if the number next to it is 0 (Zero)

Ahh crap, zoom got it.

hmmmm....The service person at that mazda dealer was adamant that that part number did not mean that the motor had been replaced. It just meant that that it had been worked on there as part of a recall which replaced the coils and the plugs and reflashed the PCM.

In fact he didn't have any info regarding the warranty repairs completed on 2/17/2006. All he showed was work completed in May of 07 (Coils, plugs, PCM reflash). All the items on the list from May are from the same dealer but I wonder why he didn't see or didn't admit to the work done in 2006.

Based on the amount of time taken to complete the work for the Engine, Short M/T Warranty claim (11 days in Feb 2006) which included the Engine short, a rental car, and CSO-freight. I find it hard to believe that was coil work...plus it was over a year earlier than the work he claims was completed there.

Any advice on how I should call back and persue? I don't like being a Di%^. I'm not good at it. All I'm looking for is the milage that the work was done at.

Anywho thanks again for all the input.

Jerm

i'm actually inclined to believe him. again, i just skimmed my report this weekend before having to go into work but will look at it tonight. i am pretty sure it had that designation (engine, short M/T) for mine as well when i took it in and got the new starter, plugs, etc. to prevent flooding. of course the days it took, with freight, and rental completely disagrees with the statement.

Well your words dull my edge a little. I'm still unsure why he didn't disclose any of the work done in 2006. Plus the time is way off.

My audi had both turbos replaced under warranty. Audi had the car for 2+ weeks. It required the motor to come out, swap turbos, and go back in. Pretty much a full engine swap. The time table here looks the same since they have to order parts, get parts, do work, get parts that were missed or not ordered, do work, get additional parts they forgot about, do work, delay customer who calls to check on car, get more parts, do work, complete job, neglect to call customer, let angry customer know his car has been complete for 3 days and he should feel free to come in and get it.

I shall dwell upon it til tomorrow and then I may call back and just ask about the maint done in 2006. Throw dates at him and see what happens. Everything he said seems okay based on what you said...he just needs to account for the work done at that dealership prior to May 2007

Thanks again all

Theres a 800 number to Mazda in your owners manual. Call them to straighten this out. All your records should be on you cars permenant record on the Mazda master computer. If a manual didn't come with your car, you can view/download one from the Mazda web site.

Thanks. I'm going to try the dealership again and try going through the service manager. If that gets no response I'll go to Mazda. Gotta follow the chain of command Military habits dies hard....well some do.

Well after talking with the service manager as well as CTrx8 I am convinced my motor is stock.

Oh well wishful thinking I guess. Thanks for all the inputs. I did find out I have new coils and plugs from about 10K miles ago thats nice to know.

Do what Al says, call the 800 number and they will check the records for your VIN and they should provide you with the details.
