i bought my 8 used. it still had the frame from the dealership. i went to autozone and got the cleanest, cheapest, simplest, black frame they had. $1.99 i think. although, i think i might go no frame.
the only time i ever got a speeding ticket was when i had no front license plate. i dont think it was a coincidence.

I hope those of you saying "no frame" have some sort of protection between your metal plates and the paint on your trunk. Plus those ugly edges of a license plate . . . ewwww.
~$20 for a very nice powder coated, metal frame at the local independant car shop. Almost 2 years now and it still looks great. Simple, clean, and you barely notice it's there on the BB.
$75 fine for no front plate in RI. A nice officer told me so to ensure I knew how nice he was being, and tint is $300, in case anyone was wondering.

I ride frame free. Seems cleaner that way.
When i get a new car the first thing I do is take the dealer frames off. I'm not gonna advertise for them after just spending that much coin.

Think about getting a plain frame without words on it. The back of your 8 is already covered with "MAZDA," "RX-8" and the big Mazda logo, already making it an official finalist in the "Most Stuff to Read on the Back of a Car" contest.

My license plate is just straight on the back of the car - with one added change: some double-sided foam tape, adhered only to the plate itself (the premask is still on the side facing the bumper). This cuts down on rattles and noise! Hopefully it holds up for a while though, I don't want to know what rain is going to do to it.
Also: no front license plates. It looks retarded on this car.

I am not loving the chrome RX8 frame I posted above. No offsense to anyone that has it but it is way too chromey for my tastes. It was an impulse buy but now I just want some thin, black frame, no words, but with a flat plexiglass cover. I can't find what I'm looking for @ cheap cost. But that's where I'm headed.
