Any have a nice License plate frame?
So I'm getting a bit sick of advertising for my dealership with the license plate frames they graciously stuck on my plates.
Does anyone have any nice license plate frames on their rides? How much do you guys shell out for plate frames?
BTW I had lightly smoked black plate covers but I was hassled by NYC cops too often (midtown tunnel and Norther Blvd). I need to go with a frame....

I take the frame off and use the smoked covers. I have no idea why cops hassel you about that , thats BS. Things must be slow around there. I've never had a problem in that regard. I can't stand when they put there frames on ,we should get pay for it.
Thats called advertising......

I went with the Mazda chrome plate frame, that has "RX-8" etched into it. It looks very good on the rear of my silver 8. Matches the rear rotary accent and chrome exhaust tips. I don't have a front plate.
BTW, I just ordered the Mazda "all weather" floor mats, and my Pooh bear seat covers are at the dry cleaners right now, so there!

Take a look on Ebay. I found a few different stores on there that sell various frames with RX-8 and Mazda etched into them. There was a black metal frame that I thought might look good on my copper red. I'll put it on my Christmas list this year

While on the subject how many people have gotten tickets for not having a plate on the front? Here in TX it is a $90 fine. I got hit with it a few years back. Anyone else have any experiences?

I ditched both the dealer transfer sticker and plate holder about 100m from the dealership on my ~1k mile trip home after buying my 8.
3 months later, after finally getting my plates, I am pretty sure I'm going to leave them naked with no frames, looks pretty good on the 8. Definitely wish I didn't have to display a front plate. At some point I'm pretty sure I'll relocate the front plate (per a DIY here, lower and to one side).

My personal plate is a small scion/toyota gloss black thin frame. I then took blue krylon and painted it. Then gave it a clear of krylon clear. Looks very clean and similar to the wb.

I bought some black door edge guard and wrapped it around the edge of the plate. Needed to use both pieces on each plate. Cut the length to cover half the circumference, with the breaks at the top center and bottom center.

I have a cheap black thin black frame with a smoked cover. The dealership frame lasted until I got home and was gone. I used adhesive loop (of velcro fame) on the back of the plate to stop any rattling or scratching of the bumper.
I checked into the Arizona laws after some fellow 8 owners hassled me, and all it says is it must be clearly legible. So the smoked cover stays. Lord knows I have been closely followed by the police a few times.
Arizona was going to pursue a front plate policy, until someone figured out they would need to issue front plates to all vehicles in Az! Spending that much money (to basically allow red light and speed enforcement automation an easier job) is a no no is a tight wad state like Az.

the clear covers from target work good enough for me. you just have to make sure you take it off n clean it once in a while. i had the smoked one and a motorcycle cop came up next to me and told me i needed to change it cuz his blind *** couldn't read my plate....=P damn pig! oh well.
