Another Tint % question/opinion thread
Went down to a local window tint shop to get a quote today. $120.00 all 5 windows. Seems like a good deal and this shop offers lifetime warrantee and is very prestigious -- a lot of my friends recommended it from personal experience. I went ahead and set up an appointment for 1:00 PM tomorrow.
All seems to sound good... the only bad thing is that the shop only offers the following...
llumar - 35%
llumar - 15%
llumar - 5%
I live in south Texas currently and cops don’t even bother looking at your tint around here. After looking at the state-by-state law chart I saw the following.
Texas front windows restriction - 25% (lowest of all states)
California front windows restriction - 70% (highest of all states)
I'm moving to California in less than a month! NOW WHAT?!?
Would 35% for the front 2 windows and 15% for the back 2 and rear windshield look bad? That would probably be the best idea as far as getting it dark enough yet not too dark... but would that look awful?
Does anyone have different tint % on his or her windows?
Discuss...

I have 35% all around and I don't have a problem seeing at night. Nor does it affect the auto dimming mirror.
It looks good and keeps it a bit cooler in the summer, but you can still see the silhouettes of the occupants inside. So if you are going for total privacy, you may want to go darker.

I have 15% all around. I think the drives and passanger windows here in Fl. need to be 28% So I'm a little darker on those two than I should be. Like Speed_D I have no problems with seeing at night or with the auto dimming rear view mirror. I have the Lumar brand and I think I paid $147.00 incl. taxes. I was told that the Lumar will lighten up a little over time ,plus I always have my sunroof shade open so that let's a little more light in the car.

When I went to get mine done, the guy showed me three different percentages, the last one he called the " I don't give a **** pecentage" I opted for that one. Not sure what percentage it is, maybe 20?

Yeah, I think it's illegal to tint the windshield except a few inches at the top.
I think someone here on the forum actually did tint the whole windshield. To me that's asking for trouble.

Stuck in a love triangle
Im finally considering tints - reflective ones for my Titanium even. I wish someonehere had a pic w/reflective tints on a Titanium so Icould see what Id be getting into otherwise itll be at the highest 15% all around

I've actually been thinking (well, at this point fantasizing because I don't own my RX8 just yet) about doing the lightest possible tint on the winshield. I hate how on certain days it's so bright that everything looks washed out, so I think the lightest percentage would be beautiful. As far as looking for trouble, cops are always wearing shades anyhow I doubt they'll even notice

This is what I have on my car. As you can see looking out from inside the tint is'nt too dark.
From outside its just dark enough for the look I was after.
Brand: Huper Optics
35% ceramic base tint film(non metallic)
Its also a thick film. Allow to cure well before rolling down the window!

Thanks to all for your input thus far.
Would like to know if anyone has a picture of an 8 with different % tint on front & rear... thinking of going that route.
Thanks again in advance!
