Am I shutting down my car correctly?

I did a search and I couldn't find anything, but if their is something and I missed it I apologize right now. I am wondering if what I am doing damages the car? I read on here to prevent flooding you should rev the car up to 3,000 or so rpm and then shut her down, but is this neccessary? Should I just let the car sit for 30 seconds or so (wait for the rpms to drop down) and then shut her down? Thanks for the help!

pre m flash if the car was not really warm to the middle if you spun up the engine to 3 - 5k and turned it off it would in theory take all of the oil/gas out of the engine.

I've never done it, actually i've done it twice because the engine was cold. I've never had an issue at all with just turning it off though when the engine is warm

flash is for the ECU. So basically if there are changes to the managment software (the computer in the car) they do a "flash" which will overwrite it with hopefully something better!

Yes this is a good idea if you live in a cold area, or so the dealer said. I had trouble with mine for about a week, and started doing this and now it starts right up every time.

My recommendation and what I do is I only do the 3k for 10 seconds and shutoff as the rpms are dropping if the engine temp guage is less than fully warm. If the engine is fully warmed up, just shut it off like any other car.

^Only something you need to do if the car hasn't been driven (as in you've just pulled it out of the garage to wash it, or something). I've never done it myself, and it's only ever flooded once. Took all of 10 seconds to get it running again. I DO think some of the new engine flashes (which are updates for the engine computer) have mostly resolved this problem. If you're not sure which of those your car has, definitely ask your dealer.
