To all who own a 2009 Rx8

Does it shift better than the previous models. If it does I am thinking of swaping the SS with my 06 Rx8

Let me know your thoughts

dont know about comparisons but supposedly starting with the 08 models, Mazda changed the gear ratio for 1st gear to try to help make up for the lower torque.

that's just my initial understanding though. may get more informed / intelligent answers than what i have here from the more experienced "residents".

The '09 uses a different tranny than the '06. I doubt the shifter will swap. Can anyone confirm?

I think the transmission is the same as in the current MX-5. It probably is different (beefed up) since you have higher revs and HP. I've found the 1-2 shift to be great, which had been a problem in the RX. Also, getting into 5th and 6th is easier. However, the 2-3 can get a little crunchy when cold. Otherwise, I think it shifts great...maybe even better then my 05 RX-8.

For ratios though, totally different...but that's a given.
