Seems like a lot of people piled on with "Don't do it" even after he had explained the deal and was well under way.

depending on the package the 2004 4port at cars could have come stock with these wheels
if it did then that package came with smaller front brakes and the "normal" suspenion instead of the "sport" suspenion of the MT cars ( minus the "base" package).
it would also have a steel drive shaft instead of carbon fiber AND a different diff.
it wouldnt make sense to upgrade to the 6 speed in this case because there wouldnt be a performance advantage. in fact there might be an overall performance decrease because the 4port plus AT combo is tuned for higher peak T. This higher peak T is probably nullified with the gearing of the 6 speed.
now going from scratch and parts cars it might make sense but doing the swap from a new/used "normal" car in most cases wouldnt be the wise choice

Alright, I keep getting the same comment saying why bother... I did this swap simply because I could and the 4 port engine has 1500 miles on it. I bought a flood car that was a automatic, I did all the flood fix procedure draining everything and such... Well my electronics started dropping off part by part. So I found a totalled 6 speed car and bought it to do a conversion. After I bought this car I realized the engine was worn out. So I got the ideal of putting the 6 speed in with the 4 port for the time being until I can afford/have time to fix the 6 port engine. Plus I was needing a car for a everyday driver (my toy is a 2004 SLK230 mercedes... and I have a ZZR600 Kawasaki...) expecially since I start college in a few weeks... So yea this is the reason... I have ran into one other problem with the car though... I am running the 4 port engine with the 6 port ECU... It runs fine up to around 6500 rpm then its as if the computer is limiting it or maybe like its running out of gas at that point... I realize that there are differences in the fuel maping... (I am running the 6 port engine harness on the 4 port engine and it has a couple extra plugs...) Does anyone know if it would be possible to take the car and have the ECU reprogramed to run this engine and crank over this rpm... I feel that it is something to do with the fuel amount.

Well the way I have it figures is this... I would have spend around 500 bucks for my control moduales... would have spend another 6-700 for radio gear and untelling how much for other parts that I didnt realize were bad on the flood car... I bought the whole parts car for 1500... and it came with Greddy exhaust... and a AEM cold air intake... So the way I have it figured I have basically the same money in the car... AND I have the 6 speed... I will eventually get the 6 port back in the car... But yea I have about 3000 dollars in my car right now with it being a 4 port 6 speed car...

Mr. Period called, he wants you to stop abusing us with him. The end of each sentence requires one period, not an ellipsis (triple period).
Otherwise, good job on your project. I wouldn't have done it but that's why we aren't the same person.

Stuck in a love triangle
I don't remember exactly how much it cost me to swap out my auto 8 with 30k miles on it for a new manual 8...but I'm pretty sure it was around 5 grand. He did save a couple grand here with this swap, but I also got a brand new, slightly faster engine, full warranty and fresh tires. It was one of the best decisions I made last decade. It's hard to believe I've been driving an 8 for 7 years now (when you combine the amount of time I owned both cars), but I can assure you I definitely wouldn't own one anymore if I had kept that auto.
