same thing here, guess its normal now my econoline also runs AC when in defrost and i think most cars do also. AC removes the humidity inside to prevent condensation due to hi humidity.

 

My guess is you had to search to dig up this moldy oldie.

No wonder we have global warming with all these cars running their ACs unnecessarily in the dead of winter when there's two feet of snow on the ground and windshield defroster is on - and with no reasonable way (pulling the fuse is not a reasonable option) to turn off the frigin' compressor ...........

In the good old days, I could just press the AC button if I needed dehumidifation in windshield defroster mode.

It's all good, I suppose .
