hey buddy, if you have a chance and time test drive an 8 with MT see which one you like better, and think twice before you come to a conclusion.

Well I'm back. I loved most about the way the rx8 drove, the carfax says the 8 was wrecked about 20k miles ago so I'm not that worried about that.

I negotiated with the guy and here's the deal he gave me.

3000 down, 300 a month at 12.5 percent fixed interest, basically I pay 3000 down and then 5400 over 18 months.

I did have one reservation and I need advice on this. The 8 was somewhat shakey going down the road alil bit and when he first started it I had to turn it over a couple times to get it to turn over. THere was no pull to it, it was just alil shakey. What do you think these problems where?

Also there's not another 8 (especially a MT) anywhere around here. The next closest 8 is like an hour and a half away and its a automatic.

when you say " shakey going down the road" do you mean the suspension was a little rough, and you could feel every little bump?

I don't like that deal, to be totally honest

and for not being able to turn over the first time could be many things:

The car could be sitting at the lot for a long time...
They could've flooded the engine if they shot it off without let it warm up properly...
Could mean that it needs its regular maintenance, coils, wires, spark plugs, etc...
Battery could be low and not enough juice to turn the engine over...
Starter could be going out...
and many other...

thats the best I could do, sorry

It wasn't the suspension, it felt like a tiny vibration. Like a tire might be alil out of alignment, but it felt like it was completely under the car. Maybe we aren't use to the power of this motor?

He told me, however, that once I drove the car off the lot its mine, they don't give any kind of warranty.

I don't know man, it just doesn't sound right to me... I know you really want it but your gut is telling you not to buy it. You don't want to buy something that you gonna have to fix right the way.

and if you really want it take it to Mazda for an inspection

and yes you are not gonna get bumper to bumper warranty, only what mazda provides 8year/100mile engine core warranty

Also the guy told me before they bought it, the guy took it to a mazda dealer and payed 500 dollars for a tuneup, does that sound about right?

depends on what they did exactly, that's why documentation, as I told you, should come with the car to let you know what has been done to it. But you could always call Mazda and give them the VIN and see what exactly they worked on...

couldn't you get a longer term loan? like 50, 60 months term??????

I called the mazda dealer with a vin number. They said that they had to put a new windshield in it and it wouldn't start, needed something cleaned out or something. Anyways the mazda dealer says he's 98 percent sure he can get me in a low miles rx8 with 3k down easy. He's gonnna look for me today and contact me later. I'm excited to go that route instead...

see... being patient, and asking around exploring your options will always pay off. I'm glad you called the dealer and asked them about the car...

I so agree with you BG-8. The deal didn't sound that good to me and the funky feel under the car would bug me too...my car starts first time every time and is smooth...I would continue down the route with the salesguy at the Mazda lot...better safe than sorry. I'd hate for you to be really in love with these cars and get a POS and end up with a bad taste in your mouth!
