What do you guys think about BG 44K? My Well Trusted Mazda Mechanic in my area, recommends me to add it in my gas tank every 6 months.

It can't hurt to run one on occasion. Running a fuel pump cleaner or something through on the occasional basis isn't a bad idea. I don't know if I would add anything to my gas on a regular basis though. Unless you want to start pre-mixing that is.

BG44k is supposed to be great stuff. But a guy I know who worked in the oil and gas manufacturing business for 30+ years told me Techron is as good as it gets in terms of fuel cleaners.

I premix pretty heavy but every 6 month or so I run a tank with just Techron to clean things out. But I have been meaning to use BG44k, Grungepup has been using it for the life of his car and swears by it.

Who knows. If you ask five experts and you will get five different answers.

shell/texaco/chevron are all the same when it comes to cleaning engines, and in fact a lot of companies have engine cleaner in the fuel to kill off some of the water that builds up from the stupid ethanol

I put a bottle of fuel cleaner in my 13 yo Jeep with 130k on the clock and I felt no difference at all. normal gas has enough cleaner in them already just like engine oil these days.
I use BP tho cuz thats whats popular in mid-west.

I have used all three and the best value IMO is Sea foam(half the price of BG44K) and better then Techron.

both chevron and shell are nitrogen based additives/cleaners. It wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't much of a difference at all. Heres your list of top tier fuels you can buy, all of which... well you can read it for yourself lol.

The only ones I have seen around here are the truck stops, and much like the lowes they border the edge of dallas. This allows them to be ethanol free which is amazing. You get free air for your tires, bays to wash your car in, and ethanol free fuel which is like .75 a gallon cheaper than it is in town.

Plus how can you beat truck stop food lol. Never constipated after eating it! lol

Yeah the few Phillips 66's around here are **** holes so I doubt that they have nice clean gas. I read an article recently about how a lot of the dirt that gets into your tank is actually from the pump itself, and that some well kept stations actually have routine maintenance that includes actually cleaning the pump handles and outlets. It makes sense though, they are out in the open exposed to dust storms, etc.

I guess I will have to take a closer look next time I fill up.

damn, maybe I should wipe the nozzle next time. I always shake the remained gas in the nozzle out before using it, who knows it could be just water.

Yeah I was sitting in my dads friends automotive shop and he had some automotive industry magazine and they had a write up about it. I tried to find it online but couldn't. I should have asked him for the magazine.
