7000 to 8500 RPM Kind of Flat

My new RX8 now has about 450 miles on it , and it is absolutly great. Great engine response from 0 to 7000 RPM, but from 7000 to 8500 it feels very flat and not strong like in the 3000 to under 7000 RPM range. Is this normal, or do I need more time for break in.
Thanks, neil

That's funny you posted this, I just posted a review of a test drive of the RX8 and I noticed the exact same thing . . .

Gee, I thought during the break in period you should not rev it that high? I just turned 1000 miles but have not seen 8k yet. Sounds like I should go for the buzzer

I think 2nd, 3rd and maybe 4th. Not 5th or 6th (yet) I'm not ready for the 141 club, or the jailhouse

because you're going to be going faster redlining in 5th gear than 1st gear are you not? so which gear you redline it in makes all the difference in the world.

That might be true but it doesn't address the big flat spot from 7000 to 8500 rpm!

How much will performance change or improve as the car gets more miles on the clock?

Is this with the DSC fully (as fully as possible at least) disabled?

You could check on prospects for fuel mapping adjustment in the tech section too, I think canzoomers and the greddy open up the top end a tad bit more. Not without a price, but...

Not enough that you will actually notice it.

I started to rev it after 200 miles on the car, both the RX8 tech and service manager said it was better for break-in. any way it feels a little like a flat spot, but when I look at the speedo I know that the car is going strong!
