Two ways to look at it at this point:

Economically - Does it make sense to change from an Automatic RX-8 to a manual RX-8? Well, you won't get it back in gas mileage, or lower insurance rates, so economically, you will lose out.

Emotionally - Will you enjoy the car more if it has a manual?
Only you can answer that question. You get to rev the engine higher, you get more power, and you get the satisfaction of feeling the shifter go from one position to the next, and feel the mechanical bits engage and disengage as you work the shifter.

I found a manual when I was looking, and didn't even consider the automatic RX-8 when I was shopping. The CX-5, on the other hand, is a completely different story, and I'm going to have to get an automatic CX-5 in order to have the trim level version of that car. Its a compromise for me.

Now, if I were going to buy a brand new Porsche Cayman, there's nothing on earth that would make me order the car with an auto, if a manual is available as a choice. It's a completely emotional choice. I like driving a manual more than I like driving an automatic.

For you, you need to decide if you want a manual more than an automatic.
There's no financial justification that we can provide to you.

Hence why I said it was a silly question in my original reply to you, that has been deleted for violating the T&C's of this forum.

Regardless, good luck making that choice.
No matter if you change cars, or keep the current one, you have one of the best driving machines on the planet.

BC.

I hate to ask, but where do you live?

There's usually a few thinking of selling their cars on the forum at any given time.
If you're close enough to one of them, they might reach out to you.
