Smile 6-speed manual RX-8 VS automatic version

Hello Forum.

My name is Fernando. I am planning to get a 2004 Mazda RX-8. I’ve been researching a lot about it. I read that the automatic version develops 197 hp while the 6-speed manual 238 hp. I would like to know what the difference in performance between both versions is, is there a huge difference in the 0-60 mph test?
I’m planning to get the automatic version :S.
Thanks a lot!
Fernando

Where you at? If you want, I can ask my 85-year-old mother to come over and teach you how to drive a MT?

Don't get manual, you'll have to spend thousands for a new clutch every month

dont listen to anybody here. they're all wanklers.

the automatic is much slower. the manual can do the 1/4 mile in 14.4 seconds, the automatic can do it in 16+ seconds.

big difference.

Hey thanks… the message was clear, don’t get the ’04 Auto. I’ve just found the “SEARCH” tool haha so I’m finding a bunch of information about the issue. I think I’ll look for the ’06 auto version, much better.
Thanks again and sorry for posting about this “old” topic.

yeap...
9 out of 10 on the site are pure stick owners...or at least they are the ones that post. A 2006 would do the trick if you need/want an auto. I'm happy with my 07 auto considering it is not a dgs? set up. The auto allows you to hold the rpm range until you want to let it change into a different gear or just toss it into auto mode and be done with it. I like the idea of the 09 model that, when in auto mode, you can still down shift one gear if desired (at least I think that is the set up).

Too bad the padel shifters turn with the wheel though but that is not a big issue considering it is not a dgs design.

Just give yourself some time in the manual to be really sure it is not for you is all I would suggest.

The automatic comes with a 8-speed DSG transmission and a quad turbo V2 producing 87 WHP @ 200 RPMS.

Nando, get an MT. I had an AT car before the 8, was somehow unsecure about switching to MT, have NO regrets whatsover. Get an MT...

... or you might end up adding ANOTHER "Anyone done an AT to MT Conversion ?" thread to the forum in a few months.

DO NOT LISTEN TO HIM! Get an 06 model or newer if you're looking for either an AT or MT.

They have cars that drives themselves... Not exactly but it can stay at a certain speed without you pressing on the gas. I heard that they're going to release a dash map system. It's supposed to be something like mapquest/good map but on your dashboard. I can't wait!
