5,000 Pre-Orders at dealers in Japan!
Checkout the RotaryNews site - http://rotarynews.com/
5,000 Per-Orders produced and are at the dealers and I would think the people are now driving them.
Does anyone in Japan have one and can you give us some details about the car?

I pre-ordered around on Jan/15th though, the production day of my car will be on Apr/28th.
In Japan, there are a lot of national holidays starting from April/29th to May/5th. So, my car probably would come home and be available about in the middle of May

Chill out guys! You have to keep on with the deep breathing exercises.
That might be the press release but my dealer won't have a car until at least the end of May. Thankfully Mazda are giving cars to the pre-order customers before the dealers which I really appreciate.
My car finishes production a week today but then I have to wait around 3 weeks to get it. 26 April - 5 May is the Golden Week holiday in Japan where almost everything shuts down. Then there will be a bit of time to ship the car from Hiroshima to Tokyo and install the dealer options at the "port" (the hub where they distribute from in Tokyo).
I still think you guys are looking at July-August in the US. Hang on in there!

I'll post something interesting I heard yesterday. Apparently it's a "secret" that two RX-8s will be at an Ottawa dealership for sale in the next 7 days. Highly unlikely I know, but the salesman was quite confident and competent with the breakdown and prices of the 8, and was aware of a prototype RX-8 being shown a couple days earlier at another dealership. Apparently, the Ottawa dealership is the largest volume dealer in Canada.
While having a couple of 8s in the next week sounds quite unrealisitic, I wouldn't doubt a couple of early production models do appear in Eastern Canada quite soon. I drove a VIN #79 FD, Dec '91 build for six years, and a buddy of mine in Montreal still has a CYM R1 FD VIN in the fifties (#56 I believe).
