308 miles on a tank - 1st road trip
This past weekend, I took my 8 on its first roadtrip - gassed up, got on highway, went 308 miles, stopped for gas... Had a ton of stop and go traffic on the way, but spent most of the time at 75 mph with the AC on. Netted 23 mpg. Not great by new car standards... but a hell of a lot better than anything I've gotten. At least it's out of the SUV range

Just goes to show that this car likes to just run... I've yet to do that well even on trips but I'm in the range I expected before I brought it, so no complaints. Tank capacity was my disappointment, however I would not trade the weight ratios or handling for a larger tank

Yes that does seem to be a good range. I just wanted to see if he waited till the low fuel light came on before he pulled over to fill it up. I have seen others say on other threads that higher speeds the gas mileage gets better. Must be something to do with the rotary design I think.

just got the M flash and now getting 230 miles when the fuel light comes on then driving 30 more miles with the light on before refilling the tank at 260.
95% hyway miles--60 daily.
I was getting up to 275 miles per tank before the M flash
Learning ecu--hopefully will get better with more time (I did tell techs to drive it like they stole it right after flash).
Just hit 5k miles.
Congrats on your stats........

I took my first road trip from New Orleans to Memphis when we evacuated for hurricane Ivan. I warned the rest of the convoy that I would have to refuel long before they would but was pleased to find that I got 23 mpg on the trip. My first couple tanks of normal driving I got around 16-17 and had one 14 in there, but since then I've been getting consistent 18-19. If I were only getting 10, I wouldn't love the car any less though.

Yes and since the tank is small and the efficiency of the Rotor engine is not that great, the MPGs can be all over the place. We just need to make sure there's a gas station up the road when going long distances. Yes we will have to pull over more than the average car but SUVs are even worst and so we are mid range on the MPGs. Perhaps in the future things will improve. I think most RX owners knew this before owning one. Least I did. I didn't know the tank was so small but I can live with that. I just know I need to stay near gas stations more than normal whatever normal means.
