What other color combinations can they possibly come up with that would increase the line? I really can't think of any.
They got rid of Winning Blue during all their fantastic new paint developments. That color is amazing. With the sexy lines of an 8 I don't want to get some bland color like gray, silver, black, ark blue, or that insanely odd teal color they have now. The only loud colors there ever were are stereotypical red, obnoxious yellow, and Winning Blue.

I'm sure they go with the paints they think will sell. It's unfortunate, but I'd never buy an 8 (even with FI) after being teased with WB and then being saddled with the sheer boredom of mediocrity that the current colors inspire. Just my opinion of course.

actually I have gotten more compliments on color with my Galaxy Grey RX-8 than any other color of any other car I have owned.

It's not really grey when you get near it.

HEAR HEAR! i didnt wanna make the same observation, as i am a little biased towards the Winning Blue, but who tf was the genius who discontinued that color, and introduced Phantom Teal?? I came in to the dealer looking for a WB or Ti Gray, and he offered me the phantom. I laughed uncontrollably and walked out. Sure, it looks good in pictures under direct sunlight, but in person on an overcast day?

Don't get me wrong, the 8 looks great in any color. But this kind of car screams to be painted something punchy. Winning Blue is the exact amount of garishness without being stereotypical or obnoxious. Galaxy Grey just blends into the asphalt landscape and disappears in parking lots.

The funny thing was the US lost WB and gained that teal crap and the exact opposite happened in Canada (for 2008 I believe).

Ok, don't really know any of you guys more or less just browse through the forums, but there is a limited production 40th anniversary rx-8 coming out in 2008, details are not in yet but we do know there are going to be some changes in the 2008 models because prices have gone up.

Sorry I don't have any real details to give to you, because we as a dealership don't have any exact details. (Work at a Mazda dealership if you can't tell)

and see I thought that Mazda has yet to come out with a decent blue. I mean look at Winning Blue... will that color still be cool in 5 years, will you still want it in your driveway in 10 years... or will it just look like a bad mistake in the early 90's?

That is what I judge colors on. Will I still be happy with the color 5 or 10 years down the road.

Any insight into this? I just think it would be cool to own a car that has two different technologies on it that no other car on the road has.
The Mazda people that did the hydrogen/rotary project should be flogged in public for wasting time and money. Somehow, I think Ford had something to do with it and pushed that project.

The research time and money would have been better served with doing a electrical/rotary hybrid. An electrical/rotary hybrid makes sense, would improve mpg, and could be sold.

I judge colors based on how they look today. I can't even begin to imagine owning a car for 10 years. Then again I've only been driving for about 10 years so maybe that has something to do with it.

Stormy Blue Mica is the best blue so far, but IMHO it really is kinda of purple in most types of light.

And I personally would have also picked Velocity Red if the dealer could have found one for me... as it was with the package and options I wanted Galaxy Grey was the only color available as I would not drive a Black or White car again.

not to post ***** off topic, but agreed. I've been wanting something in this color ever since i saw it on the 01 WRX (WR Blue Pearl isnt that diff from W Blue). So that puts me 6 years toward that 10-year cooling off period

Phantom Blue was a striking color when I first saw it ... didn't think I would want to buy it but had to go back and look at it several times and eventually after nearly a year it has become my favorite color.

How to get back on topic? I hope they don't discontinue PB for 2008!

I have a winning blue and was disappointed they discontinued it, but if you look at the bright island blue on the Mazda6. I think that would be a good color for the 8 and it looks pretty close to winning blue, maybe with a little more of an aqua tint to it...or look at the sublime and plum crazy colors for the Dodge Charger daytona. How about that on an rx-8?

Pricelist is on the website

Mazda seems to have just updated their website and now have a link to the 2008 rx8 pricelist. They also now have a link talking about a "closeout sale" on 2007s so I imagine we'll be getting some new details very soon.
