Dam... I think we got the short end of the stick here in the U.S. Sill Badges, interior color, and one up spoiler. **** we got screwed. The last set of pics really started my mind thinking of all the possibilities.

i really like the 40AE RX-8. imo, that car is a very nice and distinguished car. however, i can say that it is a car taht i would personally enjoy as is and leave stock. the reason being is that since there are only a limited number of the 40AE's produced, you will see more of a colector value in that car down the road. i own an 88 10th Anniversary RX-7 (all stock) and its a car that i will hang onto. i found the car in a field and restored it. if you are not familiar with the car, i have a small thread on the car here: http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=720132 its a car that seems to be the most sought after FC and most collectors will not buy them if they are extremely modded. basically what i'm saying is that the car will lose colector value it is modified with many aftermarket parts. i think the addition of an oem rear spoiler and the aluminum front and rear rotary accents would like nice..anmd maybe some oem side aero flares..
with that out, i think you got a good deal on your 40AE and i enjoyed the pics you posted. how dows it drive compared to your 04? are you planning on posting any more pics?

The stealth brake/fog light on the back is what you're talking about I assume. This is supposed to come standard on most models in Europe to my understanding. They get alot of things there that we don't. :P

I see your point. I wont be getting rid of the stock bumper/parts, they'll be in my basement. I just love the look of the mazdaspeed body. If the discount isn't what I think it is, I may just stay stock and get the OEM aero pieces. I am taking the car to get painted next week and I'll be posting up a few pictures when I get it back. It'll be getting de-badged on the back (mazda text and rx8 sticker). I may snap some pictures before I run it at the autocross coming up in my area on the 29th. I'll be taking it easy as it'll be my first autocross and I still have the stock tires on the car. Just got the puddle lights installed too. I'd take pictures but I don't think I have a camera that could really capture how good it looks at night.

+1 I also really like that spoiler. Though i'm still weighing some options as to which one. I'll definitely have to add that one to the list, and thing is better than the U.S. OEM spoiler.

In regards to the interior color...however...I'm terribly biased with the belief that the burnt orange ("Cosmo Red") we got here in the US is the best of all It goes better with the Metropolitan Grey Mica, and it would have been the most amazing interior with the white Japanese version of the 40th AE. White sport cars with red/orange interiors are a classic!
On the other hand, the gray/black interior goes best - I think - with the Japanese version of the 40th AE. It is a great combo. I'm just having a hard time understanding that light grey interior (which almost looks white depending on the angle) with the Metropolitan Grey Mica exterior Perhaps it would look better on a silver color or overall lighter grey.
The exterior/interior combo of European version almost looks like a mismatch of colors to me

Can anyone help? ps its a 58 plate and only done 7000 miles and is mint, i love it! Best all-round car i've driven! Just a shame i don't get to drive it more! ;-)

Mmmm...I sort of disagree. The badge with the number of production of the car is certainly quite striking. The spoiler is pretty cool as well.

Thing i think lets the usa spec ones down that ive seen is the orange indicators on the front, think they stick out like a sore thumb, much prefer the euro spec clear indicators, they blend in much better. :-)
I may be wrong but think the usa spec 40th ae's ive seen don't have the rear spoiler? Why is this? I think the rear spoiler suits the car perfectly, the non ae euro specs tend not to have them too and they don't look as good without in my opinion.
