Boy, they sound lazy!!! Did they make you take it to get your full tank of gas, too, or was it full when they handed you the keys to leave?

full tank of gas??????? lol yeah it was full, just out of interest what service interval details have you been given by tonkin? I know all the info is in the handbook but I asked 3 different ppl at herzog and they didn't have answers

I get free oil changes every 90 days for as long as I own the car, so my first one is due in June. This was an "extra" I paid for but it was worth it since after about 9 oil changes it has paid for itself (I certainly don't have time to attempt to change my own oil anyway). I got a Preferred Customer card that says every 90 days I get one regardless of mileage. They then told me to follow the guidelines in the book for my scheduled maintenance issues very closely. They told me what I needed done for my first scheduled maintenance at 7500 miles but the info is in my glovebox at this time and not in front of me. They seem very well informed and helpful at the service department if I ask anything. Everything was went really easily and smoothly when I ordered the car, got the car, et cetera. The only issue was when they transferred the sales manager/inventory guy that was handling my car over to another dealership. This put my information updates a little behind until I called to find out what was going on and I contacted him and then he right on top of everything.

You are correct. The steps are a part of "Mazda Motor Corporation Final Quality Inspection (FQI) Program. This program consists of an inspection of the vehicle at time of customer delivery."

Unfortunately the program is based on the assumption that all dealerships can READ. Apparently a gross assumption on Mazda's part.

Free oil changes......when I took delivery of mine in March, I would have liked that, but I'm about to move to another state where the nearest Mazda dealer is 70 miles away. Instead, I get free batteries and tires for the life of the car. I'll still only be 3.5 hours from the original dealer, so I can still take advantage of that.

Interesting...I refused to let them do any of detailing/pre-delivery stuff...it was late (about 2000 hrs) and I didn't want it staying the night at the shop. Just wanted to get it home..plus prefer doing the detailing myself. I wasn't too worried as it has a Feb '06 build date and was sitting in the showroom since it got to the dealer. Had 8 miles on it. They were eager to get me scheduled to bring it in for the first oil change.

Mine had 4 but got to 6 when they took it for gas.
