And here's some backup on the parking/emergency brake AND gear stuff.http://www.standardshift.com/faq.html

and there are a ton more examples out there.
Once I parked going to a local Barnes and Noble, the space is inclined towards the driving lane. By the time I got out my car (my old 93 RX-7) it has moved backwards and halfway blocking the driving lane. Good thing nobody hit it but people was smiling at my foo-foo.

well the parking brake IIRC uses a pad inside of the brake rotor, not the normal disc brakes you use while driving.
13,000 and I parked my car in the driveway, as usual, and it starts to roll. I can hear the engine turning. I'm thinking "crap" will I need a new engine?
It's a bit disconcerting, especially I usually park like this. The e-brake might hold, but I used a brick to be safe.
Shouldn't Mazda provide a parking pin or lock rod like the automatics have to ensure it won't roll?
