08 Question Cold out of 2nd Loss Of Power

I've got an 08 GT Auto Tranny. Seems like when she's cold first time starting her for the day...when I first pull out there is a wierd loss of power going out of 2nd. it seems to only happen once, but pretty consistently when she's cold. Is this normal? Any insight on the issue? I have had the "loss of power" recall they did reprogrammed already also. Still not sure what's going on with her, and have had her looked at twice by the dealership. 4k miles on her. Thanks guys.

At what RPM's do you feel the loss of power?

If you floor it while its cold it has a built in rev limiter until the engine warms up.

If its not that I don't know, maybe someone else knows.

somewhere between 3-5k and it's always coming out of 2nd before it shifts to 3rd, it seems to only do it once, and once the car is warm its fine. But it does this every time the car is cold.

I don't "floor" it, but if this is what's going on, this is annoying as hell. Way too sensitive to revving..

Not sure about the '08 auto but the 05' manual (my car) has a fuel cut at about 4200 rpms that I've hit a couple of times if the car is not warmed up. I don't make a habit of this but leaving from the bottom of an icy/snowy hill out of a turn requires some momentum before shifting to the next gear if you're ever going to get anywhere so it has happened a couple of times like I mentioned scaring me a little. Let the car warm a hair longer then try to do the same thing and see if this happens. If this is what you are experiencing it is only a fail safe to protect the engine.

The best is to not rev it above 3000 when cold... wait a little until at least the engine starts to warm up and the temp needle moves up before revving it above 3000.
As others said, it's probably just the engine trying to defend itself against over-revving when cold.

My procedure is to start it, sit for a few seconds until the idle goes below 2K, then give it some light gas holding the needle at 2.5K, it will warm it up and after 30seconds or so you will see the temp gauge move ever so slightly then you know you're not 'flooding cold' then off I go. Worked for me for 3 years.

research before commenting. You have a rotary engine. It has seals, which require oil to keep sealed. That oil waits for the engine to warm up before it starts flowing fully, which means you shouldn't be revving it up there till it warms up. It only takes a few minutes for the car to warm up at idle... I think you can wait just a short time before really going at it.
