I just picked up a 06 gray shinka and the BIG differance is the dealer discount and $ 3500 in rebates. I really like the areo pack and rear wing. Not comfortable with the keyless deal yet and the car makes many odd sounds. The 8 has more personality than any car I've owned and that includes a C5 Corvette and an Audi TT.

I took delivery of a 2007 Japanese version here in Tokyo.
?248?250?/8500 its has 250HP not sure the difference with US spec cars?
Check out http://www.rx-8.mazda.co.jp/
Only just done 1000 KM in 4 weeks so I have not heard the BuZZER sound yet , first service next week. So far quality looks good not problems and much more fun then my C330I BMW.
Cheers,
Garry

I picked up a 2007 Phantom Blue Mica RX8 last saturday. It has the performance package, xenons, a spoiler along with spare tire option and is a six speed. So far the fuel consumption is horrendous, but the car is fantastic to drive. It survived four days of winter weather in washington dc, but this weekend I picked up a siler/black OEM cover for Jade. Anyway, the color looks amazing, and changes from blue to green in different light, and in direct sunlight has LOTS of gold flake visible. Overall a stunning car

Lately I'm discovering that my 07 doesn't stick nearly as well as my 04 did. It might just be the tires, but my 07 is much easier to break loose than my 04 ever was. But at the same time, it doesn't pull so hard on the highway when the surface isn't totally perfect. Compromise I guess.

the tires on the 07 are more grippy than the ones on the later versions, I learned that by racing my friend's 04, his slide like a ****, mine take curves better, but no sliding, just massive power loss on curves.......

might have something to do with ur friend's car. he got a 04 buddy and I assume it has some mileage on it.

Brand New tires will always be more *gripy* than the used ones.

I think it might have something to do with bridgestones.

Cuz I think they changed the RE040 thread design in sometime last year. or maybe the compound has changed.

Does your car still not grip as well? If you have the Dunlops I noticed they took a few thousand miles to totally scrub in, not the 500-1000 miles that are typical of normal tires.

Yup
I'm up to about 3000 miles and the handling feels the same. Not nearly as tight as my 2004, but still much more tight than any other car. And it still slides much easier.

Ummm. Yeah. I agree, how about the 08 specs as a sticky. I've got an 07 here's the summary: Same as the others with funky keyless system, all the recalls done and horrendous Bridgestones on the GT.

Case closed. Kill this.

I thought my tires on my 2007 seemed shittier than the ones on my 2004. I'm not crazy!

Speaking of crazy, that keyless entry thing gets old fast, it sucks ***. I hope they dump it in 08.

You're not crazy- at least on this point

The RE040's are abysmal IMHO. I just ditched them for Pirelli Pzero nero M + S tires which SHOULDN'T be as good in dry weather...but I find them to be better.

And yeah, the keyless thing is great for bragging rights (kinda like torque if you have a Mustang) but is lame in reality.

Right On.

I've been so at a loss as to what my car is ...

it's JDM first of all... and it's a Stormy Blue 6SPD-AT

It came with:

Black Leather Interior
Bose Audio
18" Rims
Xenon Headlamps

It did not come with:

Moonroof
Foglamps

So which pkg is mine??? Sport, TR or GT ?

If it's a JDM (RHD) version it's probably the Type-S. The Japanese market has different trim level differentiation than the American market.

You know it's a good thing you said this because I was really looking in the wrong area. I was able to dig up the cache files of the auction site I got it from and the details page and I now know the car is a : TYPE-E.

Now to sift through the japanese writings to find what that truly means.

Thx
