there are more just search mazda 3 layer or mazda e coating. the newer 3 layer system wasnt used on the 8 until after the fire at the U1 plant that started in the old paint booth. they installed the new system during the rebuild and started painting cars with it at U1 in April of 2005

Jedi - have you had any of the problems with chipping paint like a few of the others have had?

Not that ally can't be done, but my bet it would have some side effects.

BTW, does anyone know if the 6=speed automatic for the 2007 is a planetary gear setup or an adaptation of the 6-speed manual?
yeah considering aluminum oxide is what sapphire and rubies are.. it's almost as hard as diamond... alumina is some tough stuff...

Perhaps Mazda is working on the RX-7 and any power gains they can apply to the current engine will go into that package. It seems that everyone is wanting Mazda to produce a two seater RX-7 again.
I am completely satisfied with my 2005 GT in looks, performance and price value. I researched for two years and test drove a lot of cars before deciding on this unique car. It's not the fastest car out there but is a joy to drive. Heck, you can't drive it all out all of the time (but it sure is great when you do) and when you are just doing normal driving it sure beats a lot of other for the fun factor. My Velocity Red GT with OEM appearance package and spoiler is just like I want it.
I know a lot of people want theirs to be different but let's face it, after 3 years of production you still don't run across another RX that often.

I'd be one of those...05 built in 9/05...and I DO have a chipping issue that the car is goin in the dealer for a total repainting of the whole door now. Hard as diamonds? Hardly. Closing the door has chipped the top of the door paint.

Nikasil is a compositie of silicon carbide (like needles about .0007" in diameter and .003" long) held in place with a nickel binder. On a cylinder a cast iron liner wears about 10 times faster. I was referring to using this to coat the inside of an aluminum rotor housing, not in relation to paint.

I like the Stormy Blue, as it looks like the Strato Blue which is not available in the US. I always preferred the more subtle colors for this car, as it shows off the lines of the car better, IMHO. But color preferences are really personal matters.

I never thought the original Yellow was attractive. I have a promotional handout from Mazda with matching yellow inserts on the leather interior, including the steering wheel and instrument cowl. Good thing it was never produced!

I never cared for white or off white colors in any car either, because light can't reflect the sheet metal creases and show off how the car is sculpted. White is for kitchen appliances. Wiining Blue is nice, as it is practically the same as my MP3 shade (if not exactly the same) but the new darker navy looks neat to me - like a sharp navy blazer.

I didn't find the answer I seek, which was "What have they done to the 4-port to get 212hp".

It isn't the numbers, it's the difference between them that I'm curious about; Euro IV cars produce 192 and 231, and I'm told it is the emissions map that causes the 'low' power outputs (compared to Japan's claimed 250).

What's different in the 4 port, if anything, over our 4-port engines? The redline is the same...

Ah, I was sure I'd read about a 4 port with the 6speed auto.

Mazda's global configurations are insanely confusing. Has there been a thread dealing with the regional differences in what is available? Without knowing what Japan gets, the USA seems to get the most varied selection.

Just a little info for everyone. I am a finance manager at a car dealer and we onw 97 dealerships. One of our dealerships close by is a Mazda Dealership and maybe I didnt read this thread enough but the 2007 Mazda RX-8 Speed will have a turbo charger on it. This comes from the regional rep for Mazda. Lets keep our fingers crossed and please correct me if Im wrong.

Let me say it for all those out there thinking it....

We are from all over the world but until proof shows up in physical form, we are all from Missouri...

For all those who don't follow that, it means we don't believe it or even feel it is worth thinking about until, it is here.

You are calling it the 2007 Mazdaspeed 8, so... when comes to mind... early 2007? mid 2007?

Perhap we will see it at the LA auto show in December 2006???

I am hoping my April 2005-build RX-8 has the new e-coating. Edit: looks like it may not.. then again, looks like the e-coating process seems to use less paint, so maybe it's good that I have more paint then. We need something like the Acura RL paint... thicker...

I love my winning blue and I guess it's a shame that it's discontinued now (but then I guess it makes it a tad more special).
