05 purchased in 06 warranty question
Does the factory warranty on a new RX-8 start from the date of purchase? For instance if you bought a 05 car in 06 would it start from the date you bought it in 06 or end of 2005 calender year?

Not exactly correct/\....
The warranty begins the day the dealer reports that the car is sold on. With Mazda's performance based incentive system, it is common and unethical in some areas to "punch" or report cars sold that are still on your lot. Those warranties begin on that day. But for the most part - 95%+ it will be your date of purchase. Only way to knwo for sure is have a Mazda service dept tell you by VIN.

And where did you get 95%?? (sorry I just hate it when people sprout off numbers off the top of their head to try to make a point. I mean people can make up stats to prove anything...75% of people know that! :-P )

I dont think you would even need a lawyer...If it's the same dealer you bought it from, I don't think they'll be denying your warranty work. Just the threat of making a fuss would make them cave.

The number I soouted off was an estimation. Hence the +/-. That said, I know the practice to be not common, but much more prevalent in Mazfa world then many others. I would have said the proverbial 99%, but I don't think it's that high. Suffice it to say, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a couple on this board.
