The only way to sell that thing is slap on FI and still offers full warranty somehow. Or they can sit on that thing for 2 years and sell it for half of the price.

Also, have "Engine: Don't Know" and "Fuel Type:-- " just takes away any creditibility of the dealer.

All eBay RX8's have an unspecified or unknown engine. I guess eBay is waiting to see if this rotary thing works out before they give it any credibility.

This dealer chain has a history of adding body kits to cars to display in the show room for a long period of time based on my visits to there Acura dealership. Same TSX sat there the entire model year with similar attire. The total lack of even $20K bids on eBay shows no public interest in buying a RX8 decked out "exactly this way".

ok, so it's really about 40K list and they are selling for 50K.
If you bought every accesory and had it professionally installed at the dealer, would it equal the 10K difference?

I think its down to msrp and retail on the parts now $39k ish (not 100% sure). We did all the dealer avail MS parts minus the flywheel and you cant do 2 sets of wheels and you cant do coil overs and shocks and springs so we picked the lesser of the 2 to get the same effect at a lower price. Also Mazdaspeed is trade marked thats why we had to put Mazda Speed even mazda wont let the dealers use it like that. The mirrors and seats are not avail to US dealers. I think when they put it on ebay they were hoping someone would see it and want it no matter the price. We have sold 2 full MS bodykits and various other parts by having it in the show room. We also did not put a front emblem on the car or plate since its easier to add holes at the owners request then it is to fill them. Its an awesome car and fun to drive. I am not a sales guy either i am the parts manager, i did not even know they ran an add for it in the paper our GM was all stoked to do this car up but you know sales guys they hype everything up.

Aren't those magnesium MS wheels like $1600 per rim? I can see 50k if it had those, but for just aluminum ..nah I'll pass.

Too each his own, someone may actually look at it and fall in lust and think with their wallet instead of their head. Versions of that happen all the time in bars across the world with slightly different result.

For me, I love my 8 but there is no way I would put that much money into it. Way too many other cars out there for that money that won't have its value fall like a rock as you leave the lot.

Very few of those options add a lot in terms of performance anyway.

When I discussed pricing with a dealer, the car they priced out for me had an MSRP of about $38K. The dealer looked at me like I was nuts.

I was just pissed that I couldn't order a factory Mazdaspeed RX8. The dealer said, "yeah, but that car would probably be about $40K". I said, "SOLD". Unfortunately, with the parts available only as accessories (which require 'professional' installation) it drives the cost up absurdly...so, as crazy stupid as $50K might sound, even without the go-fast parts (which the dealer was STUPID not to install), the pricing doesn't surprise me...but I'd also never go within 50 ft. of it. For $50K, my money is in a much different car.

Yeah, my wife wanted a Toyota FJ and they had one on the lot for $45k. It had about 8k in mods at most and they jacked up the price 17k. My dad and I are avid off-roaders and I know the mods done to that FJ could be done installed for about 8k or so. My cousin works there and he said Some dude bought it the next day for 38k. Crazy what people will do when they get fixated on something.

i work at a hummer dealership. and the only vehicle on the market that can complete with the hummers (excluding the H1) is the FJ cruiser. although the hummers are a little more capable off-road than a FJ. it really just comes down to your own style.

Hey at least he didn't ask if there is a "speed" or "mazdaspeed" RX-8 coming out soon

I'd rather have a threadsurrection than a n00b repost anyday.

Back to the topic... yes, hardly anyone (w/ any mechanical inclination) likes to return to dealerships and yeah they try to make a killing on the uninformed.

At least I'll have something to look at next time I go in for service. Discuss!

How can they even justify that.... especially when the Nismo Z is not even near that price.... on top of that they don't even offer the best of the best... as stated by others... no flywheel, coil overs, cup mirrors, magnesium wheels...

it's dealers like this that ruin it for real enthusiasts... actually... maybe that's not true - a real enthusiast does their homework and doesn't fall prey to such f*cked up antics!

I kicked over the soap box and dropped the damn mic... ;-)

**** it... i'll take a free post. But I'm gonna work for it..... so its not really free.

to ME, regardless of ridiculus price, if a dealer is going to do this with a car, they need to do it RIGHT. many ppl have noticed they in fact DIDNT use all availible Mazdaspeed parts.... they are missing the following(just what i can think of quickly)

Flywheel
Oil filter
Drivers kneepads
Tow hook
coilovers
radiator cap
mirror covers(rear view)
side mirrors(aero mirros)
MAG wheels
L.S.D. or selective L.S.D. w/output shaft
reinforced brake lines
Oil cooler kit
oil cooler duct
sports radiator
stainless steel clutch line
clutch disc
and wasnt there like a MS gauge pod with Defi gauges???

and thats just what i can think of off top of my head for MS parts

Wow I'm a sucker...I paid tax on it...
note: GST is only 6%
And doesnt no payments for 5 months mean that payments are just deferred for 5 months and not that those 5 payments are free?
