BHR Ignition, BHR Midpipe, AEM Intake, Accessport from MazdaManiac and maybe some lowering springs. That should be within your budget if you shop smart and cruise the classifieds. Then save the rest for a track day.

Search, read, search, read, repeat as needed.

Find some friends or make new ones that know more about cars then you do and learn to work/mod on the car yourself.

If you like the cars performance as is, then go for some appearance mods that help performance a little at the same time.

Here are some good ideas.

- Ignition: Spark plugs last about 30K miles on this car and coils dont last much longer. Upgrade to the BHR ignition system during your next tuneup.

-BHR Midpipe for sound and a little power. Keep the stock catback but have some different tips welded on for looks.

- Accessport with MM tune. If you install a mid pipe you will wont the CEL deleted plus you will get a modest increase in power, improved cooling and increased OMP output for engine longevity.

-50K miles on stock suspension I promise you the stuts are getting worn and could use replacing. Keep your eyes open for a good deal on some lowering springs and performance struts. Tokico d-specs or koni yellows. Even new you can upgrade struts and springs for $800ish. You could get coilovers but a good set will cost you more and not wrth it unless track performance is desired or you want a specific stance.

-The stock wheels look better with the car lowered and spaced out with some spacers. You could have them professionaly powdercoated or painted. You could even prep and paint them yourself. Plenty of DIY's out there.

- Air Intake: The stock intake is fine, no real power with an aftermarket intake and there is a DIY out there to get a litte more out of the stock unit for very little money and a little time.
