Yet another 13B-REW swap, but in South Africa

So, I had my RX-8 all of 2 months before the motor went. Oil feed pipe to the rear rotor broke off, and I cooked it in the space of a minute or two. Was having issues with the cooling fan fuse blowing, so when the temp rose a little, I assumed it was that again, and kept driving. It usually rose a bit, but as long as I was on an open road, it stayed below 110C. This time it shot up to 125C, and then it was too late.

Took it in to Racing Boys in Krugersdorp, the quoted me R35 000 to rebuild, or R45 000 for A 13B swap. No brainer, so I told them to swap away.

Included in their price was:

13B Motor
Rotortech Management System
T4 custom turbo
Intercooler and all manifolds/exhaust
Guarantee that all my guages would work, and no warning lights on the dash.
Minimum 200kw on the wheels, which is all I want (for now).
They keep the cooked Renesis. I don't have the time to make a coffee table out of it.

It's not my daily driver, I have the Jeep for that, but I'm not going to drift or drag it regularly. More of a weekend toy occasionally, when it's too cold to play on the offroad bikes.

So, here are some pics of the progress so far: (ETA is another 2 weeks or so)

The price is a bit steep...will they be providing the 13b? Is it new or used? I suggest keep the blown motor it would come in handy. I could get al those things done for half the price...I import kars and motors ext..so I get it for a steel..im putting an new motor in mine and it cost me R8500 for everything....plugs incl.

Sorry guys, been really busy with a few other hobbies, and I forgot about this forum. Swap is done, and I'm very happy. Dyno gave 190wkw, which is what I expected. Still needs a final tune since I've only now finished the 1000km run-in of the motor. Unfortunately I had a glitch with the Rotortech management box. The fuel chip blew, and I'm waiting for my replacement box to arrive.

Dash and air con work perfectly (except for two warning lights which are temporarily taped over), and car runs 100%.

R45000 for a turbo swap out of the rx7.. Not too bad compared to 35k engine rebuild..I would think a sr20det would b ideal, but I think the cost to swap out 1 would run to these kinda costs...
Nice

Nice
I have a spare 5.7 V8 Hemi motor from my Jeep Commander lying in the garage. If I was going to move away from rotary, I would've gone that route. But it just felt wrong to do that to the RX8.

Oh, and all-in, the swap came to R56k. But that includes the exhaust system and a rebuild because they fitted the wrong wastegate spring, which boosted 1.5 bar. Power was insane, but I broke a corner seal within 5km.
