REW conversion OMP question

Hi,
I have a series one Dec 2003 Australian delivered RX8 that I am doing an REW conversion on.

The car has the adaptronic RX8 plug and play ecu.

I will be using the FFE crank trigger kit and the RX8 DBW throttle.

I will be picking up the new REW engine soon and I will be retaining the FD front cover instead of converting the renesis cover to fit.

I was wondering, what have you guys who retained the FD front cover done about the oil metering pump ?

Did you use the renesis one, does it fit the FD front cover ?

Did you use the FD one and if so how did you wire it up so that it works with the RX8 wiring and ECU etc ? (not putting the car into limp mode,CEL's etc)

I know some people just plug the renesis one into the wiring harness and hide it so that the rx8 ecu doesnt put the car into limp mode and run premix.

If it is possible to run an omp on a REW engine in an RX8 any advice on how to do it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You are going to have issues....you need the OMP to keep the OEM ECU out of limp mode...

It won't fit on the REW front cover

Not sure...but I don't think the Adaptronic will run a FD OMP

Not sure what others have done...but I just pre-mix. It's easier and works better

Thanks for the replies fellas.

Looks like thats what Ill have to do, just plug it in and tuck it away somewhere.

Problem is that I have to get the car through emission testing which will mean running it on e85, this means I have to find a premix that will work in e85 and try and get it passed through emissions running premix.

Does anyone know of any premix that will mix with e85 and stay in solution ?

I'd go for a collectors plate, that should exempt you from emissions testing. Your car is not in production and probably has 5k+ in mods, which should give you a very good case to obtain a collectors plate.

Redline oil makes an Alcohol premix that I have been using. It seems to stay suspended with no issues.

Part # is
  • 40504 - Two-Cycle Alcohol Oil - quart
  • 40505 - Two-Cycle Alcohol Oil- gallon

Thanks for that mate, I searched and Im actually able to get that oil here in Australia.

Regarding the collectors plate, we dont have that option here in Sydney Australia, it has to pass the emissions of either the vehicle or engine, whichever is newer.
