You may be waiting for a long, long time. I ordered an rx-8, GT, nav, whitewater pearl in early october in so cal dealer. Three months later the car had Not even been built yet. I got my money back and am driving a new BMW X3. Mazda has no customer service, has a lot to learn from the bmw auto group. Yes I wanted the rx-8, but I couldnt wait 6 months to get it once I placed my order.

I'm expecting to have to wait 60 days or so but even if it runs longer, I've got two other cars in the garage so no big hurry.
Besides, good things come to those who wait.

Yah, I couldn't find black w/ a nav sys in So Cal. And, the plant fire meant prod'n didn't resume until the 2nd week of April 05... So, even tho I was ready to buy back in Jan 05, I had to wait until March 05 to get my order in.
But, after 4 long months, the car was completed mid-April, and it finally arrived this past weekend (mid-May)! =)
And, I have to say, that it was SO worth the wait to get exactly what I wanted. I got a similar config: [Black, 6-Spd MT, GT, Black/ Red, Rotary Accent, Rear Wing, Navigation, 6-CD/ Cassette, Shock Sensor + some extras].
So, if you figure 2 months from the time the order gets put in and accepted- that's about 60 days.
The only disadvantage you'll have- besides having to wait- is pricing. I bought via S-Plan. However, I have noticed that w/ the 2005 model year clearance, there are a lot of great deals "IF" you aren't picky about the color & options. But, for such a nice car, to me it's worth getting what you want.

Good friend / client of mine is a Finance Manager for Ford and will be making sure I get the best deal possible! (car at cost + rebates + great financing makes Jedi a VERY happy camper!)
I completely agree with you on how worth it it will be to get EXACTLY what I want...
Now, if only I can talk the "non" mazdaspeed dealership into installing my MS wing for me (for free of course) I will be an even happier guy...

Out of the three leather colors available, the red is definitely the sharpest of them all. It will look great! Congrats.....
