YEY!! My order for my RX8 is going in today!

Hey Everyone,

I've been bugging all of you for about a year now and I finally decided to pull the trigger on a new RX8.

Not a lot of details now but all I know is the order was sent to the General Sales Manager this morning. :D
(We're hoping to have news from Japan soon)

I'll keep all of you posted as the details come in...

Not actually using any OC dealers... believe it or not.

I spent a lot of time talking to a guy named Joey over @ Tustin Mazda who was GREAT! I honestly would have done business with him had I not been getting such a good deal elsewhere. (I've got connections @ Ford)

Thanks Gambit!

My buddy over @ Ford looked at my request and he called my car an "abomination!"

*laughing* He just said he doesn't see too many requests for the black with black / red.
I took it as quite a compliment that there won't be TOO many cars out there like mine...

Gotcha. I'll give Joey a ring over at Tustin, thanks (I had originally test drove the RX-8 at Irvine Mazda).

The Fleet managers over at Irvine are pretty cool... Test driving no problem. I almost went to buy the car there, but at that time they didn't have the one I was looking for.

Man if I was ordering a Black RX8 I would want the Black/Red.

Glad you finally decided to take the jump. I know you will be glad you did.

Thanks Slvr8!

Yeah, I just couldn't say 'no' to that great looking interior.

I might even paint the calipers red to match...

I'm getting ahead of myself again: Need to get car first :D

The black/red interior a unique animal. I had a Titanium Gray with the black/red for a weekend test drive before I bought. I thought the black/red interior was OK, but not teriffic with this combination (as did my wife). But I finally ended up getting a Velocity Red with the Black/red interior and I think it is GREAT! I think the two best combinations for the black/red leather is with the red or black exterior, absolutey!

Good choice!

I'm planning to get my RX-8 at Tustin Mazda. Good to know that you enjoyed talking to Joey. Hahaha... How much did Joey offer the RX-8 to you for? (Just curious) :p

We didn't talk price too much. My big concern was finding one that matched what I wanted. I can tell you this: If you have a Costco card and don't want to haggle for a price, Joey can get it to you for Invoice + $500. Can we say Gerber rebate?

That would mean NO HASSLE 2005 RX8 @ invoice... :D

That is of course if you don't like going toe to toe with sales guys over a specific price.

Interesting - is the Gerber rebate associated with Costco membership? Although I think RX-8's can and should be had for below invoice, it would be nice to know that invoice+$500 is the highest amount to consider.

Invoice + $500 is through the Costco Auto Program. (totally free for all members)

What you do at that point is spring the Gerber rebate on them and you could walk away with it at Invoice.

Just like you said... No sense in paying over invoice on one of these.

The owner of Tustin Mazda is also a great guy by the name of John Patterson. He's a big RX enthusiast and is a pleasure to deal with as well. (just an fyi)
