I have a yellow RX-8 GT 6-speed and love it. I think the yellow shows off the lines of the car really well. But like others have said yellow isn't for everyone.

How f***ing ridiculous. I get there at like 7:30 tonight and they say "Why are you here so late? We can't do anything this late." They told me before I went that the car would be ready for me to sign and pick it up. This is BULLSHI*! I WANT MY CAR!

That sucks! I would talk to the sales manager and see if there is anything they can do for the inconvience.

D'oh! That really sucks, especially after you drove so far. I guess 7:30 doesn't give them enough time to try to sell you all the extras (extended warranties, undercoating, rustproofing, etc.). I spent at least an hour with the paperwork guy trying to sell me all sorts of stuff after I had already reached an agreement on price. You are going to be so happy when you finally have the car, hang in there!

I should make them pay for the gas I wasted going there. I drive a Mustang. You thought your RX-8's got bad mileage. I don't think I'll be doing business with this dealer anymore. They said they would bring the car to me if I decide to buy it. What, are they going to bring the finance manager with them to try to sell me the extras and sign the stuff? Plus, I don't want them driving my new baby 160 miles before I even drive it. They don't like break-in periods at dealerships. I won't even test drive the car I'll eventually buy. I ask to test drive thier demo. Yes, I'm that neurotic.

I think that's a mistake. You're making a business decision based on ego and anger (albeit justified) and not what makes good financial sense. When I negotiate with someone who's getting on my nerves, I take a breath and remind myself what I'm trying to accomplish and I remind myself it only weakens my negotiating position to allow emotions to gain control over reason.

You found the car you want for the price you want to pay (and it's a good price). Finding the same car for the same price at another dealer is a lot more work than just going back to this dealer, however stupid they are, one more time to sign the papers.

Second, you should absolutely test drive the car you intend to buy because it could have a problem or quirk that's not apparent just from looking at it.

I'll consider it. In the meantime, there's another dealer nearby here who is claiming to be able to match the other one. I think I'll talk to them first.

I didn't think there would be any difference between the 2 cars, yet you are right. I never thought one may have a problem or may feel different cause it wasn't driven by 80 different people.

Well, that's different. If you have another dealer offering the same car for the same price, tell this dealer to F-themselves. But only after you sign the papers with the other dealer! Nothing worse than having to go back to someone you just told to F themself and asking if their offer is still good. :p

Test drive the car from the perspective of looking for problems with that particular car. Test all of the controls, shift through all the gears, inspect the body and rims for scratches, etc. This is your car, you're paying a lot of money for it, it better be right.

Talking

You do know that you can go out on mazdausa.com and check the inventory of every dealer near you. Or pick an area get the zip code and it will provide the dealers and then you can check their inventory

Well, I researched the Mazdausa.com inventories for various dealers within a 250 mile radius and found the color and equipment. Yes, yellow and then went to a dealer that would give me a good trade and deal and told them to get me the color and where it was located, not that they couldn't do that them selves. Heck they had to find an 04 mazda 3 in order to get the dealer to swap. Got the car for about $2000 under invoice about a month ago. They still made money because of the dealer incentives mazda was providing. Would guess you should be able to get down to $3000 below invoice now, if they really want to sell it :o

That's funny, cause MazdaUsa only searches 150 miles and only provides the 5 closest dealers. I've done my homework and the packaging I want is very rare. I've contacted almost 20 dealers within my area and beyond and they either don't have any color I want or are not willing to negotiate.

Thanks for the advice though...
