New RX-8 owner in the house.
Bought a used 2006 Shinka (400/1500) Black 6spd w/14,900 on the odi. 1 Owner.
Asking price - $21995.00
Options - Rotary Accents, Spare Tire Kit, Sirius (not sure if that is standard on the Shinka's?)
Negotiated price - $18395.00
Out the Door - $19400 and some change. It was purchased new 6/29/06.
Felt pretty good about the price for basically a year old Shinka. What do you guys think?

Yeah i knew it was a tad high but i also realized that I will only be driving it about 4000 miles a year for the next two years since it's our 3rd vehicle, so i figure it will even out.

Final Price: 13200
Model Year: 2004 (April as inception date)
Model (AT/MT): AT
Options: Base
Date of purchase (month/year): 12/2007
Location (city/state): Columbus, Oh
Financed/Cash purchase: Pre approved by non dealer source
Interest rate (if relevant): 6.75
New/Used: Used, 27K miles
Helpful additional information-
How you did it: Called all Mazda dealers and gave them my wants (Yes I know should have gone MT on a GT model)
Comments: Immaculate condition, garage kept from the looks, no flaws interior or exterior. On the car I bought it was listed at 17.5K. Dealer came down on the first visit. I gave my rock bottom price, played the game and then walked away as it was tooo low (per sales dude). Got a call two days later asking why I did not buy. Stated price again. They called back later that day to agree.
Take care,
Brian

Cheap RX8s in Utah
The majority of people in Utah drive SUVs/Trucks.
The sales figures for RX8s in Utah is horrible.
I got an OTD price on a 08 GT for 26k and a OTD price on the 40th for 28K.
They have some used 07's (Sport, Touring, GT) with under 20k on the odom in the $15.5-19.5k range.
If anyone is interested shoot me a PM and I can give you a name and number of a guy to talk to. (I'm always afraid to buy a used car. Who knows how the person drives. God knows i'd never want to buy a used car from a person like me )

If you do not have a trade I suggest you shop your local dealers on the web.If a dealer wants you to go to their dealership for a price, tell them that they either deal with you your way or forget about it.
Insist on a bottom line price.some dealers will bob and wheave and then give you a price without the somethings they are going to tack on when you get to the dealership, they depend on the lust in your heart for the new car you see, will allow them to tack on something. I only found one dealer in the wash dc area, that was totally above board, that was bill britt in fredericksburg va. there may be more in the area that I did not need to take the time to rate.
now after you have done the above and you have a trade in, take it to the dealer and dont expect him to be giving you some inflated price for your trade due to the fact that he gave away most of his margin on the bottom line price. ask for him to explain the price for your trade. my dealer did that and we made the deal, cavet emptor

2007 Manual GT
Velocity Red w/ Red and Black interior
Spoiler, spare wheel kit and all weather mats
No navi, No appearance package
MSRP: $32,200
OTD: $27,999
Purchased in July of 07. A good deal but I had to finance through Mazda with a ridiculous interest rate for 3 months before I could refi.
Purchased near Washington DC.
EDIT: God I feel like I paid a lot based on what others have listed! I remember at the time though $28k for a GT was decent.

Model (AT/MT): MT
Options: GT, everything except navi
Date of purchase (month/year): 7/07
Location (city/state): Ottawa, Canada
Financed/Cash purchase: Financed
New/Used: Used, 6K miles (8900KM)
Paid:$22,000 CAD
How you did it: We get screwed on pricing in Canada, at that time any comparable deal was at least $30K. Brand new all in the car was $40k... so I opted for a salvage... at the time it was a good deal, if I waited I could have gotten better. Runs A1 though... no problems at all and I love it!

Considering the 350Z starts at $50K I guess that sounds about right. You guys must have an ungodly tax structure to get an out-the-door price $10K over the sticker price
