Went to dealer today... Gxxx in Davie, FL

I told the salesman I wanted an auto and this was the pitch...

"Automatic is very rare... and hard to get... for every 100 manual RX8, 1 auto is made." :D :D :D :D :D Ya right... I'm not 2 years old.

Then the test drive in a community? I could not even make it over 45 mph. The car does run pretty smooth and the RX8 suspension with 18" is softer than my BMW 330ci w/ 17". The interior is smaller than I imagined. I guess this is a compact sports car.

Can you fit a large luggage bag in the trunk or it depends? If my mom visits me from Taiwan, I guess one of the bags will go in the back seat(?) or both bags in the back seat(?)

Then he is trying to negotiate with me about price. With the Grand Touring package, it is about 33k. WOW! Catch this, "BECAUSE THE AUTO IS SO RARE, YOU SHOULD PUT DOWN A $500 DEPOSIT."

After people on here are saying they can buy one for $2000 under MRSP, $33 is pretty expensive consider MSRP is 30-ish. Buy Price should be 28-ish. There was a thread hear about a Maryland dealer, with NAV + appearance package + CD changer + GT, MRSP 34xxx, they were offering $32xxx. That is a tempting price for NAV.

Is it just me, or Gunxxxx Mazda like inventory. Speaking of their inventory, I counted about 8 red Rx8, 5 silver, 4 yellow, and 2 blue in the back. I estimate about 20 RX8 in this dealers. I guess with prices over MRSP ($33k for GT auto), it is not hard to ponder why so many RX8 on their lot.

I had the exact OPPOSITE experience at Gunther mazda. To me it was the best auto shopping I had ever done. (and I have done alot) I went to four other south florida dealers before I found Gunther through another positive post in this forum. I don't know why things went sour w/ you, but I would call their sales manager Mr. Hadden...speak to him.. With me they were all true professionals, which even included meeting the owner when he came out to meet me when I picked up my 8. I have used their service once to repair the cracked tailights that some 8's are having..Again it was great.. They were changed on the spot.. no hassles. (even enjoyed the free doughnuts).. Hope you can solve your problem, but if you really want crappy service.. try some other dealer...like the one on Bird road..what a joke..5K over MSRP. Good luck...
